The great JB Linear Music recording collaboration

As promised, around the middle of November I sent out a separate email about the 1st JB Linear Music collaborative recording project. Only three people including me made contributions, although one person was nice enough to play on all four instruments. Despite our efforts, maybe this attempt was a bit premature....a little ahead of the times. It was hard to hear the click track and play at the same time and it was also difficult for intonation. I also think that the internet based software we used is great for people with a real understanding of computers and recording, but not for us regular folks.

It was fun to try and a special thanks to those who participated. Keep this in mind, folks. We might try it again and I invite others to attempt similar projects. Again, the website we used was ScratchAudio.com. If you do, here are some suggestions:
  1. Have a track with a tuning note at the beginning that you will delete for the final product.
  2. It is pretty much required to use headphones while recording each part so the click track and other tracks can be heard well enough to stay together and in tune.
Next month's Freebie Download:
Two Landlers by Giulinani for woodwind quartets. The landler was a folk dance in 3/4 time that was a previous form of the waltz.

Although mostly instrumental, sometimes the vocal parts featured yodeling.

 Player's quinte* of the month:

Let's all slow down and take a breath.

Have fun playing!

Sincerely,
