New Music at JB Linear
Tomorrow Shall be My Dancing Day

....is a traditional English carol that had its beginning in the medieval mystery plays. This setting for piano and flute, clarinet, or alto sax by John Gibson is a piece to make your audience smile.

Armstrong & Leehey Flute and Clarinet Duets

J.S. Bach - Aria from The Wedding Cantata, J.S. Bach - Aria from Cantata 127, and Beethoven - Lento from String Quartet No. 16, Op. 135. As we found out last month, Joe and Liz's flute and clarinet duets had a nice review in The Clarinet magazine.

 Joe Procopio

JB Linear has added one new piece by Joe Procopio for flute named St. Mary's Song. This is a beautiful original piece that can be played using piano, vibraphone, or harp.

Ottorino Respighi's "Fountains of Rome" has many loud, boisterous moments, but there are also quiet and contemplative times as he describes in music two fountains in Rome at the beginning and then at the end of the day. Set by John Gibson for a double wind quintet. (2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets in A, 2 F horns, 2 bassoons).  There are about 6 minutes of playing time. The clarinet parts are for clarinets in A, with alternate parts for Bb clarinets provided.

If you click on the links you can find score and audio samples to review.

want to collaborate in a recording?

Let's gather in the "cloud"** to make a recording

There are some new web sites that hold the promise of people from all over the world to gather electronically and at different times to make a group recording.

Let's try it!

In the middle of November, a separate mailing will be sent out that will give you the information you need to be a collaborator on our 1st group recording. Watch for it.....should be fun! It may not be heavenly, but it will be in the "cloud".

**Cloud computing allows individuals to access programs and files that are not stored on their own computer. Wikipedia says, "This frequently takes the form of web-based tools or applications that users can access and use through a web browser as if it were a program installed locally on their own computer."
Next month's Freebie Download:
Duets of "Noel No. 10" by Louis Claude Daquin.

Player's quinte* of the month:
Andre Previn recounts an incident that happened when he was at MGM. ....the studio chief heard something in a score that he didn't like, and was informed by an office minion that it was a minor chord. The next day a memo was circulated stating that "henceforth, there will be no more minor chords in MGM pictures."  - from "The Art of Writing Music" by John Cacavas

Have fun playing!

Sincerely,

John Gibson
