New Music at JB Linear
Yost duets - Michel Yost was a clarinetist in Paris who lived from 1754 - 1786. Yost DuetsThis is the first set of Yost's three duets for clarinets. Edited from an original manuscript by John Gibson. There are two movements and a score and separate parts are included. 
 
Fernand Gillet - Exercises for Scales, Intervals, and Staccato for Flute (download version)   A new edition of this great work in standard engraving. The previous version was a facsimile of Gillet's manuscript (a few are still available on Amazon.com).  This is the download version, you may also buy one printed and mailed.Here is a blog post about it. 
 
Schubert - "Death and the Maiden" set by Simoen Loring for Woodwind Quintet  Simeon Loring has been added to the growing list of distinguished JB Linear Music composers and arrangers. He has produced this beautiful version of the original string quartet by Franz Schubert in a setting for woodwind quintet. It is available as a complete work, and as separate movements. This is a "must-have" for your woodwind quintet!
 
Spike Maiden Muller - Canon and Rondo 
"Canon and Rondo" is an easier piece for clarinet trio that uses traditional thematic material that is spiced up from time to time to keep it playable and enjoyable for the listener. It is also available for flute trio and flute/clarinet/horn trio.

Player's quinte* of the month:  
 
Are you against the wall? - Maybe you should be. This is a good way to hear yourself differently and point out such problems as a noisy tongue sound. According to saxophonist Sue Terry, listening to your shadow tone and the overtones within your basic sound can help you focus on your sound quality. The shadow tone is the same note you are playing, but is a bit in the background. Overtones are those higher components of each note that make up the total sound. Try it against different types of walls, doors, even in a corner.
