Free Sheet Music to Download

Dear                     free

Here's your JB Linear Monthly Freebie.

This month the freebie download is "Bad Joke Blues" by John Gibson. This was originally a little piece I wrote for one of my young bands and I have reset it for a quartet. This would be appropriate for students in their 2nd year of playing who have started playing some chromatic notes. It is set for flute, oboe/2nd flute, clarinet, bass (bassoon, bass clarinet, bari sax, or bass guitar), piano (not for beginners), and 2 spoken joker parts.  A bad joke script is provided, although you are welcome to chose your own worst jokes.+++Just click on the "Freebie Download" link to the left.+++

Here is a computer audio to listen to with a voice-over added for the jokes. Click Here

You can access the freebies of the past in the JB Linear Music Archive. Click on "Freebie Archives" at the left.

Player's quinte* of the month:

One of my young students always says, "FAILURE!" when she makes a mistake. I tell her that "failure" is too large a word when all she did was miss a few notes. Here is a good quote from Mary Paulson at Suite 101.com

"During the learning process, almost every muscle in the body is making hundreds of minute adjustments. Every time musicians cringe at a painful squawk or chord that sounds like a train wreck, their brains take note and unconscious changes in technique are made. Mistakes aren't fun, but they're the only path to progress."

Have fun playing!

Sincerely,

John Gibson
