Foundation Awards More Than $381,661 in Grants  Thanks to charitable gifts from generous individuals, businesses and organizations, the Providence St. Peter Foundation Board approved more than $381,661 in funding through the fall grant cycle for Providence facilities and services.
Grant requests are submitted to the Foundation bi-annually. Patient care services, health education, capital improvements and vital equipment purchases have all been made possible through charitable gifts. A sampling of approved fall grants include:
Providence St. Peter Hospital Immediate Care Unit 10 cardiac recliners - $16,000 Employee Health Three patient lifts - $9,400 Nursing Council
Nursing education scholarships - $30,000 Family Birth Center Special mattresses - $5,200 Cardiac Rehabilitation Cardiac monitoring system - $45,000 Chemical Dependency Center New exercise equipment, patient education supplies and new furniture- $19,000
Providence Mother Joseph Care Center Six new special care mattresses - $8,900
Providence SoundHomeCare & Hospice Hospice Staff Education - $8,400 Hospice Respite Care - $42,000 Comfort Care Therapies - $65,000
Overall in the last four years, the St. Peter Foundation has allocated more than $12.6 million to Providence programs and services locally, including grant awards and other charitable distributions.

Honor Someone Special this Holiday Season Every fall Providence SoundHomeCare & Hospice (PSHC&H) invites the community to its annual "Light up a Life" ceremonies.
Honored names of individuals are displayed in a special book and a symbolic ornament is placed on beautiful Christmas trees located in Olympia, Centralia or Shelton. Contributions to celebrate people and special occasions may be made to the Foundation. "Light up a Life" Ceremonies
Sunday, November 29 @ 7:00 p.m. Christmas Forest - Red Lion Olympia Hotel Wednesday, December 2 @ 3:00 p.m. Mason General Hospital - Ellinor Room Friday, December 11 @ 3:00 p.m. Providence Centralia Hospital - Chapel Contributions support vital hospice programs in Thurston, Mason and Lewis counties by providing terminally ill patients and their families with specialized care that addresses their physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual needs. Last year PSHC&H assisted more than 1,000 hospice patients and their families in a spirit of loving service and provided more than $100,000 in comfort therapies and in-home respite care in our local communities.
