Dear
The hair and beauty market continues to move apace in spite of the economic climate and the British Airways High Life magazine quoted that "the British spent an astonishing £5.2bn in hair salons in 2006/2007, up from £4.2bn in 2002, and, says industry body Habia, that figure is set to increase. 'Hairdressing is often described as recession-proof,' says Habia's Mark Phillips. 'It is the last luxury to go."
This all bodes well but in our experience from posting on forums such as salongeek.com and listening to our clients, the economy and client confidence is still a massive concern for salon owners and mobiles alike.
Akin to this are the other external factors that are worrying salons such as the solvency of suppliers and the tactics of some high ticket sales companies in hard selling equipment and services. We have contributed to an article by the NHF's Salon Focus magazine on a current bugbear which is the treatment of salons by Lifestyle TV and their recent comments that they would seek to increase their customer base before they deal with the customer service issues that are rife on the forums.
We have had contact from several salons now on this issue and are happy to listen to anybody else who has had similar problems from this company, or others and their financing arrangements.
On more positive matters we were delighted to be name checked in the L'Oreal Business Builder folder on legal matters which is issued by Creative HEAD. Get hold of a copy if you can!
We are also very excited about possible new ventures with salon groups across the UK and we will share these with you when launched. In the meantime, if you have an interest in our services then just drop us an e-mail.
Good luck for April!
