AMYA Bulletin Volume 4, Edition 10
| October 9, 2011
|
Greetings! ear (Contact First Name),
It has been a little long since the last Bulletin. Partly since I have been doing some sailing. I headed out to Detroit and co-skippered a J Boat with Dave Ramos and then sailed my EC12 the following two days in Camp Dearborn. It was great to get four days of sailing in while spending time with a great group of people. Next up for me was hosting our annual EC12 Regatta.
The other reason for the delay was a lack of material. All I can think of is that people have been so busy sailing that they have forgotten to send some results and photos my way. There have been 49 events on the calendar since I sent out the last Bulletin, so I know RC sailing is alive and well! The information doesn't need to be elaborate; a short paragraph and a photo would be great. If you have a link to more pictures, information or results even better, send them along.
There are still a lot of upcoming events on the calendar and I hope some of them are on yours!
See you on the water!
Ernest Freeland

US1M Nationals Ken
The US1M Nationals were sailed September 17 - 18th at an exciting new site that produced what we believe to be some exceptional racing in absolutely beautiful weather conditions. Your new National Champion is Colin "The Kid" Mosgrove, winning by a narrow margin over John Whalen in second. Third was John Arkenberg, followed by Bob Shluger in fourth and Bob Lombard in fifth. Colin sailed his Todd Brown hull, John Whalen a Saber, John Arkenberg a Bobsled, Bob Shluger a Valkyrie, and Bob Lombard a Venom.

 | Winners of the Villages 2011 |
Villages Gator Regatta Oct 2011 Tom PhillipsThe Florida Championship series for 2012 got off to a big start with one fleet of 20 boats. The winds blew from the only 'wrong' way at The Villages, coming from behind the shippers with both days. In 21 races there were 8 different race winners the most memorable being in the 17th race when Frank Novak got his first bullet. It was great to have the slimmed down Joe Walter back in the fleet after a years absence and he showed he had not lost any of his previous magical skills by having no less than 6 bullets and was the winner the Regatta by only 1.8 points over Dick Hedderick. Ken Morrison did his best to remind skippers of the rules and hopefully many lessons will have been learned and will carry over to the rest of the seasons Regatta's. Top 5: Joe Walter 60.4 pts Dick Hedderick 62.2 pts Dr Robert Greer 82 pts Baron Bremer 98 Ricky Gerry 115 |
