2011 Dallas IOM Blowout
Hmmm maybe the "C" Rig would have been faster!

 2011 Dallas IOM BLowout

Brig North

The 2011 Dallas Blow Out is complete, and this year, the event lived up to its name. Winds ranged from 10 to 28, with sustained winds on Sunday of 24. Twenty one skippers from around the country and Canada participated at the Corinthian Sailing Club. The top five were Tony Gonsalves, Eric Arndt, Peter Van Rossem, Hew Hamilton and Al Ross.

Fantastic support was provided by John Diggins as RD, Fred Rocha as Assistant RD, Bob Piper as head scorer and Jared Piper as Assistant Scorer. It's always fun sailing IOMs in B rig/C rig weather, and we had that in abundance.

Larchmont Spring Invitational CR-914 Regatta

2011 LMYC Spring Invitationals

2011 CR-914 Spring Invitational at Larchmont Yacht Club

It was a beautiful day with winds of 12-18 with gusts to 20. Winds were from the West to WNW which at Larchmont means swirling over the top and around the sides of the clubhouse. We sailed ten races using the Heat Management System and four more races with a combined fleet for a total of twenty four starts. It appears that local knowledge was not a particular advantage as sailors who traveled long distances won the first three places. Congratulations to Dave Ramos, Kevin MacLellan and John Whalen for excellent sailing.

Atlanta 'Gone with the Wind' Regatta- Kahle wins by .2- yes .2.

AYC Gone With the Wind
EC12's in Rough Water

Sometimes 'Gone with the Wind' lived up to its name. Doldrums, 1 foot wakes, B rig winds and a great time. Food, drink, a lovely site and challanging conditions. Atlanta in the Spring, can be cold and wet, but this was perfect. The Atlanta Yacht Club provided the venue for Atlanta Model Yacht Clubs EC12 "Gone with the Wind" regatta. The Yacht Club is getting a number EC 12 competitors in addition to its fleets of Snipe, Laser, Thistle, and Y-Flyers. http://www.atlantayachtclub.org When they have another event, you will want to be there.

We had some challenging winds on Saturday ranging from 0-1 early and B rigs to light in the same heat in the afternoon. In the late afternoon on Saturday, it got a little choppy on Lake Allatoona, but overall skippers dealt with it well and adapted to the new conditions. Sunday morning started out again with very little wind, but slowly built to a light breeze. Open lake sailing with wakes from assorted bass and speed boats made conditions difficult when the wind was very light. The contest for first was as tight as it ever gets .2 separating the first two positions. First of the year for the Dixie Cup Series, Results posted below:

1 Reichard Kahle 19

2 John Bottensek 19.2

3 Baron Bremer 28

4 Scott Vernon 33

5 Chris Kakavas 44
