2011 EC12 Champions Regatta Tom Phillips
The 2011 EC12 Champions Regatta was held March 12 and 13 at Charleston, SC. This regatta is a a single closed fleet of 20 boats with the participants being the top 5 skippers from regatta competitions that include the New England Cup, Colonial Cup, Dixie Cup and Florida Cup. These make up the Champions Regatta Series, and each requires several regattas to be entered to qualify. For full information on the CRS, please check the EC12 web site. http://ec12.org/Regattas/CRS/2011CRS.htm The regatta was held in great weather under blue skies and with winds ranging from drifting to B rigs. Competition was tight and a look at the photos will show some truly tight bunching at the mark roundings. Dave Ramos (Colonial) won the regatta posting consistent scores by staying out of trouble and starting well, and putting on a Sunday demonstration of great sailing. He ended the regatta with the same point score he had at the end of Sat. Baron Bremer (FLA) finished second after an amazing run at the beginning of the regatta with four bullets and a second in the first five races. Mark Rinehart (Colonial) was third. RD Reichard Kahle and Rick Gerry, previous winners, did a great job as did the rest of the host Charleston Model Yacht Club. The Sir Francis of Grahm Trophy was inscribed with the first three place winners. The trophy is named after Frank Angel, who we recently lost. Frank was the organizer of the regatta series and a long time EC12 promoter. Top five/pts: Dave Ramos 59, Baron Bremer 92, Mark Rinehart 94.8. Chuck Luscomb 97.6, David Brawner 142. Full Report and detailed heat scores: http://ec12.org/Regattas/CRS/2011CRS.htm Full list of positions and scores for both Saturday and final scores at: http://ec12.org/Clubhouse/Discussion/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1288 Photos at https://picasaweb.google.com/greerdr/Champions201103# https://picasaweb.google.com/ec12photos/ChampionsRegatta2011# _______________________________________________________________________________________

Geezer 'Gatta
29 April - 1 May 2011 - Mount Juliet, TN
It's a whole new concept in RC sailing fun presented by the folks that know how to live (55 and better). Join the Lake Providence RC Club (#282) and enjoy our fantastic sailing venue, be a guest in our beautiful 24,000 sq/ft lake-front clubhouse (with indoor and outdoor swimming pools and hot tubs), and revel in the true southern hospitality we all enjoy in Tennessee. Our only qualification is that you must be a Geezer (55 or better).
No need to bring your boat - a fleet of identical RC Lasers will be provided.
An ingenious round-robin schedule allows us to open our race course to 30 participants sailing 15 boats. Each skipper will be assigned to one boat for the duration of the regatta so you can learn your sail number! Even our local owners will be sailing a boat other than their own! Friday afternoon allows you to familiarize yourself with our boats and our race course, followed by a "Really Happy Hour and Din Din!"
Saturday and Sunday, we will eat ~ and drink ~ and sail to our hearts content. Racing will be in heats, so you relax between races. BTW, the other skipper assigned to your boat will sail the opposite heat ~ so you will be teammates, helping each other on and off the course. Coaching allowed!
Soooooo, we don't care what boat you sail most at home, please come and find out what real fun over 55 feels like! Email Steve@SailRC.com for our NOR and "Geezerized Sailing Instructions!" Y'all Come, Ya hear!

2011 Alamo Classic IOM Regatta Ray Seta February 19, 2011 This years Alamo Classic IOM Regatta went Green this year in a few different ways! First we assisted Joshua Seta's with his Boy Scout's Enviromental Recycling program by asking all skippers to recycle in a special Green tub all beer and soda cans for Joshua. What a great success that was with thirsty sailors. One skipper even saying that he will drink for any good cause! Another way the sailors want to go Green was to sail in the misty wet conditions as to not waste any of the days good winds that would come later in the day! Even going Green with special Green IOM Regatta t-shirts! With a total of 14 skippers from Dallas, Houston and even New Orleans, it was always remembered that this regatta has a premise fun first, food second, and fun third! Fora really Green complete story, photos, videos, and results go to the Pirates of Woodlawns official website.
