A Message from the President
It's been a busy first couple weeks. I am pleased to announce Jim Atkinson of Costa Mesa, CA as the new region 6 Director. With that appointment, our board is now complete. I thank those that stepped forward when we were publicly seeking a new director.
John Hanks, our long-serving Executive Secretary, has indicated that the time commitment required to care for his father has affected his ability to carry on in the position. With regret, I have accepted his resignation. We cannot thank John enough for his hard work and guidance during his 13 years as Executive Secretary. Doug Hemingway was offered and has accepted the position of Executive Secretary.
Ernie Thorpe has taken on Doug's former duties as AMYA Regatta Coordinator. We continue to be blessed with a plethora of volunteers.
The website team of Charles Hall, Earl Boebert and Doug Hemingway have been busy with updates and upgrades. You'll now notice there is a Financial Reports section off the About the AMYA menu. Also, in the Club Resources area, you'll now find both 1 & 2 minute start tape file available for download. Our thanks go to State College MYC for correcting the timing between one second and the bell.
A lot of work continues behind the scenes to improve communications systems for the AMYA volunteers. Once satisfied with the new system, it will be opened up to the membership also. The basic idea remains that more we communicate, the better off we'll be.
Don't forget that nominations for elected positions are due in early March.
A big thank you to Ernest Freeland for taking on the job as editor of the Bulletin. Congratulations to him on his first issue.
David Brawner AMYA President
