AMYA Bulletin
Volume 3, Edition 16
October 29, 2010

Greetings!

I hope you don't mind me filling your inbox with another Bulletin. When the results pile in like this, it's hard to resist.  The regatta schedule moves to the warm edges of the country after next weekend.  For the rest of us, that must mean the building season starts.

As always, thanks for reading.

Micro Magic Nationals

Orlando, FL

Eighteen Micro Magic skippers representing over five states battled it out in Orlando, Florida on Oct. 16-17 during the 2nd annual Micro Magic National Championship, hosted by the Sunday Sloopers. The weather was beautiful, but the winds were a bit on the light and variable side. Recently crowned EC-12 class National Champion Baron Bremer took top honors, with Steve Lang only one point behind him in second. Mike Eades was third. The top six were only separated by one point from each of the competitors in front of them, which shows the racing was incredibly close!
Top 5:
1. Baron Bremer (#81)........35 pts.
2. Steve Lang (#8)........36 pts.
3. Mike Eades (#15)........37 pts.
4. Jack Ward (#45)........38 pts.
5. RC Greer (#52).......38 pts.

Soling 1 Meter Just for Fun Regatta

Radio Control Sailing Club of Cincinnati #217

Brrr! It was cold, but tolerable. Sixteen boats came out to play in 50 degree weather and strong winds for two days of Soling One Meter sailing. We sailed in two fleets on Saturday with a cold rain curtailing the sailing after only 4  2-heat races. With only ten sailors back for Sunday's cold sailing, we sailed in one fleet. By the time we'd sailed 8 more races, we'd had enough of the cold fingers. We could have two throwouts.

Russ Hardie won 8 of the 12 races and was easily the class of the fleet. He was followed by Bob Bottenhorn, Rob Hill and Jerry Callahan. Ray Micheels was given the AWWWW! razzing for finishing just out of the trophies. Everyone who braved the cold and high winds on Sunday received a mini-flashlight as a regatta favor.

Trophy winners were:
1. Russ Hardie            13 pts
2. Bob Bottenhorn       25
3. Rob Hill                    28
4. Jerry Callahan         39

The attached picture shows, from L - R,  Rob Hill, Bob Bottenhorn and Russ Hardie. Do they look cold?
