AMYA Bulletin
Volume 3, Edition 14
October 5, 2010

Greetings!

The ballots have been counted and the election results are in.  Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote.   Also a note of gratitude to Jim Linville, a classy gentlemen who kept the election focused on the business of the AMYA.  I will undoubtedly lean on Jim's wealth of knowledge and his never ending love of this hobby over the next couple years.

There are still a lot of big regattas coming up.  Charge those batteries and get out on the water.

As always, thanks for reading.

CR914 Nationals
Sandy Point State Park, Annapolis. MD

We sailed thirteen races over two days plus for seeding heats. I think that the weather gods must have liked us as we received over 10 inches of rain on Thursday and Friday and the winds were blowing the dogs off chains on Friday. So nobody really did much practicing on Friday many hung out at the World Headquarters of the CR-914, Chesapeake Performance Models where we checked in the boats and enjoyed some Barbecue.

We awoke to near perfect weather for Saturday's sailing. five to ten knots in the low sixties that climbed into the low 70's. By the middle part of the day many were seen breaking out the sunscreen.

Sunday brought a little cooler temperatures and a little more wind. By the end we had crowned David Ryan from San Diego Yacht Club the 2010 CR-914 National Champion. This was a hard fought battle over David Ramos which was decided by a tie breaker that went all the way down to the number of 9th place finishes. Wow!

Here are the top ten boats:

1David Ryan23
2David Ramos23
3Charles McNamara66
4Kevin Maclellan71
5Todd Cagwin74
6John Skerry74
7Brian Jobson75
8Jean Malthaner94
9Alex Ramos95
10Sandy Purdon95

We also crowned Kevin Maclellan the CR-914 East Coast Regatta Series winner. Kevin grossed the best score over the Spring Invitational Regatta in CT, the Region 1 Regatta in Marblehead and the National Championship. We had over 50 boats qualify for the series.
