David Brawner
Region 2 Director
Western Reserve Model Yacht Club 2nd Annual Open S1M Regatta

Nineteen Soling 1 Meter skippers participated in the Second Annual Western Reserve Model Yacht Club Open Regatta, June 12-13 in Painesville, OH. Racing was in hot, humid weather, with light and lighter winds. The format for this year's regatta was HMS 2007 (promotion/ relegation) for 3 races followed by fleet racing through the balance of the regatta. Gold/ Silver fleets raced at the same time after a staggered start. This allowed the regatta to include a total of 38 Heats.

With the large number of races, sailing skill still prevailed and the top sailors managed to find air and even with almost non-existent winds, the Solings still performed well.

Summary

Entries: 10- Gold Fleet; 9- Silver Fleet, 19 total

Soling 1M Hot Regatta 2010
Sand Point Model Sailing Club

Despite the approach of Summer and a lot of skippers have departed for

the North we had a decent turnout for our 3rd annual Hot Dog Regatta.

First race started close to scheduled time of 10:30 am. with winds out

of the East at aprox. 7mph.  We had skippers form Sebring, Orlando and The Villages. The Titusville

club was represented by four local skippers.  Commodore Butch Bragg acted as Race Director.

Thanks to Nicole and and Justice for acting as score keepers.  After running the scores through my spreadsheet I found not one mistake.  Great Job and thanks again!!!

John Egizi finished first after a tie breaker with Jimmy Carter.  Jimmy Carter took second place followed by Geroge Reed with a third.  The races were fairly close with no one really running away with the show.

The bullets were spread pretty evenly by the first four finishers.  Dave Griesse who finished fourth actually had the most 1st's in the event.  Consistency paid off for John Egizi and Jimmy Carter.  Ken Marr showed up late from a misunderstanding about race start time.  Ken missed the first two races and was given the average of his  overall scores for the  first two races.

Region 6 Victoria Class Championship Regatta
Seattle Model Yacht Club

Not too often do you get to race a second day with the winds being as good as or better than the day before.  The Seattle weather held out both days with a few showers Sunday morning and cloudy skies the remainder.

We had 12 skippers on Saturday to race and only 11 skippers available on Sunday.  We were able to get 14 races completed on the first day.  On Sunday, we finished up with 26 races.  We finished early on Sunday to allow the out of town guests to get a jump on the traffic going home.  We had 2 skippers from Canada, 4 skippers from Oregon and the rest from Seattle.  We had a few Seattle skippers that sacrificed racing to help with regatta logistics and helped run a great event.
