Richard Wagner's "Der Ring des Nibelungen"
A Two Part Introduction: How To Listen To The Ring Musically And The Ring's Possible Meaning For Wagner And For Us
In all the realm of art there is nothing comparable to set beside Wagner's immense, four-part music drama, "Der Ring des Nibelungen." Using hyper-expressive music and the suggestive, intuitive power of myth, Wagner weaves a tale of divine and human folly and redemption, as relevant in our day as in his. You are invited to begin the "Ring Experience" with our winter musicologist, Prentiss Dunn, visiting from Vienna, Austria. In view of the Metropolitan Opera's spectacular new production of the Ring this season, which can be enjoyed by everyone in theaters all over the world as part of "The Metropolitan Opera's Peabody and Emmy Award-winning series The Met: Live in HD" this lecture series is timely and not to be missed. Saturday, February 19, 4 - 6 PM Saturday, February 26, 4 - 6 PM General admission: $ 10 |
