This November brings a host of diversified events - from the Black Film Festival, Spoken Word, theater auditions, the Rising Stars Piano Recital Series, the SCC's Chamber Series, a special art exhibit featuring the works of young aspiring artists, to the SAA's Thanksgiving Show. 5th Annual Black Film Festival

Thursday, November 4th at 7 PM: Screening of Men II Boys


The screening will be followed by a panel discussion answering the questions "Can a woman teach a boy to become a man?", "What is a man?", "What is the single greatest challenge facing Black America?"

This event is free and open to the public.

Spoken Word "Expressions with Class" & Live Jazz

The African American Museum of the East End is sponsoring their 4th Annual Night of the Spoken Word- "Expressions with Class" and Live Jazz featuring the splendid sounds of Internationally famous jazz flutist Dwayne Kerr (flutist for Erika Badu) along with saxophone great Charles Certain and Touché' that will have you dancing in the aisle.

The Rising Stars Piano Recital Series Presents Konstantin Soukhovetski

2000-2006 Pianofest Participant, 2002 Hilton Head International Piano Competition First Prize Winner and 2007 New Orleans International Piano Competition First Prize and Audience Prize Winner Russian charismatic pianist Konstantin Soukhovetski, well known to Hampton audiences, will perfom Prokofiev's Sonata No.4 Op.29 and Schumann's Sonata No.1 Op.11

This recital is sponsored by James B. Jeffrey. Mr. Soukhovetski will perform on the SCC's Steinway Model D.

SCC Chamber Series
Bryant Park Quartet

The series presents two concerts this month:

Sunday, November 14th at 3 PM

The Bryant Park Quartet presents a varied program featuring works of Mozart, Shostakovich and Mendelssohn. The Quartet, in residence at Stony Brook University's Community Music program, was a prizewinner in the 2010 Hugo Kauder International Music Competition and performs regularly throughout the United States.

Shostakovich String Quartet No. 7
Mendelssohn String Quartet in F Minor, Op. 80
