Greetings!

As our nation's leader's focus on the national budget, I find this a good time to review my budget. I am reviewing both my household budget and my corporate budget. Have you set up a budget for 2011 yet? If not, it's not too late. If you have, now is a great time to see if you're on track so far this year. To me, it's far easier to make a few smaller adjustments early than it is to try to make big changes late in the year. If you need any guidance please feel free to contact me at your convenience.

The headlines last week warned Americans about the looming March 3rd deadline.  Negotiations are likely to continue until the last minute when a deal may or may not be reached.  At stake is a multi-billion dollar industry, essential to our country.  Failure to reach an agreement could lead to a work stoppage.  The business that is getting this attention is the National Football League (NFL), as its players and owners argue over how to divide its $9 billion of annual revenues.  Another March deadline however may likely impact the financial markets far more than the NFL's dispute.  March 4th is the deadline when the US government's power to spend money expires.  This is the result of Congress never passing spending bills for the current 2011 fiscal year during last year's legislative session.  The only way our government has continued to operate is because of a "continuing resolution" that expires on March 4th or less than 3 weeks from today.  A failure to renew this resolution would force the first federal shutdown of the government since late 1995 (source: BTN Research).

President Obama will present his fiscal year 2012 budget to Congress this week.  The president's plan will spark debates between some economists looking for additional stimulus spending for our recovering economy and others more concerned about the deficits our nation has created in the last 3 years (source: White House).

Consumer interest rates are climbing.  The average 30-year fixed rate mortgage nationwide was 5.05% last week, its first time above 5% since early May 2010 (source: Freddie Mac).

Notable Numbers

1.     AVERAGE BULL MARKET - The bull market for the S&P 500 that began after the stock index bottomed on 3/09/09 is now less than 4 weeks away from its 2nd year anniversary.  Through last Friday (2/11/11), the S&P 500 has gained +96.5% since 3/09/09 (change of the raw index not counting the reinvestment of dividends).  The last 10 bull markets for the stock index (going back to 1957) have produced an average "trough to peak" gain of +131.7%.  The S&P 500 is an unmanaged index of 500 widely held stocks that is generally considered representative of the US stock market (source: BTN Research).

2.     HOW LONG? - The current bull market for the S&P 500 will reach 2 years in length on 3/09/11.  Of the 9 other bull markets that have occurred since 1957, the shortest duration was 2.2 years.  The average duration of all 10 bull markets since 1957 is 4.3 years (source: BTN Research).

3.     UNTHINKABLE - The USA is projected to average a deficit of $697 billion per year for the next 10 fiscal years (i.e., 2012-2021), equal to $80 million of deficits per hour for the next decade (source: CBO).

4.     MORE IN THAN OUT- The US imported from China $3.97 of goods and services for every $1 we exported to the Chinese in calendar year 2010 (source: Commerce Department).

Q. What is Sound-n-Vision?

A. We are a full service Internet marketing company that specializes in professional website design and results driven search engine optimization.  Our purpose is to give anyone with a dream the ability to succeed online!

Q. What makes you different from your competitors?

A. We give our clients goals and dreams the respect they deserve and we get them the results they need.  We care more about our clients business than any other web design company out there will.  We get to know their companies inside and out and do everything possible to assure they succeed.  We are not just their web designer we are their partner and their family.

Q. What is search engine optimization and is it necessary?

A. Search engine optimization is consistant work that is done to improve the visibility of your website on the search engines.  Our search engine programs have gotten our clients in the top 10 of all of the major search engines on hundreds and in some cases thousands of different keywords.  Mark Twain wrote that there is no difference between a person that can't read and a person that can but doesn't.  The same holds true for your website...there is no difference between having a website that is not properly optimized and showing up on the search engines and not having a website at all.  Yes, it's necessary!

Q. Are there any industries or companies that you aren't able to work with?

A. Only ones that are not interested in growing.  Our clients range from local roofing companies to fortune 500 companies to musicians and artists to ice cream manufactures to state run organizations and everything in between.  We even have a client that sells Prawns!  That's right, PRAWNS!

Q. Where can we see some of your work?

A. You can see our portfolio and other information on our services by going to www.sound-n-vision.com
