A business or company name registration in Australia does not provide any protection against others copying your name. A trademark for your business will allow you to protect your business name, slogan and prevent other parties from copying them. Where does a registered design fit in amongst all of this?
Frequently asked questions:
- If I have a trademark in Australia, do I have to register it overseas too?
- What is the difference between a business name and a trademark?
- If I design something, isn't it automatically protected by copyright law?
- What is the best course of action if I suspect that a competitor is violating my copyright?
- How can I protect my written information on the internet?
Canberra BusinessPoint Clinics are confidential one-on-one sessions of up to one hour between a service provider and client. In this session you can receive advice about your specific intellectual property needs.
You will never be 'sold' to in a Canberra BusinessPoint clinic - this is about the specific advice you need right now.
To ensure that participants get the most out of the time-limited session they will be required to brief a Canberra BusinessPoint advisor prior to making a booking.
