Greetings!
Welcome to our first newsletter of 2012. We hope everyone had a good Christmas break and is ready for a successful year. Lighthouse certainly is and looks forward to working with you in what is shaping up to be another busy year. Lighthouse will be introducing a number of new products and services to make us even more connected with and relevant to the local entrepreneurial community. More about this in upcoming newsletters (also keep an eye on our website). As always Lighthouse welcomes your suggestions about services or activities that you think should be included in our portfolio.
Kind regards,
Anna Pino, Cindy Reese-Mitchell, Su Hodge, Lachlan Blackhall, Lyn Robbins and Lauren Mitchell

Employing staff was never straightforward, but with the never ending changes to legislation and employment regulations it is now just plain daunting. Understanding your obligations as an employer and the obligations your employees have to you is an important tool to ensuring the success of your business. It also becomes an important tool for retaining good employees and removing those that are not committed to you and your business. Possible topics include: - National Employment Standards
- Modern Award obligations
- Changes in legislation and impacts on you and your business
- Employment contracts
- Probationary periods
- Employees vs. contractors
- Retrenching staff
- Dealing with claims against you by staff
- Home based work and staff responsibilities
- Obligations to part time and casual staff
