Dear
Those of you who know me, know that I have a strong connection to the element of water. It started with my birth under Scorpio, a water sign in the astrological chart. As a child, it was nearly impossible for my parents to coax me out of the family pool from May to October. As soon as I could hold a paddle, I learned to paddle, and have worked as a whitewater canoe guide and instructor for many years. I'm even happy with the rainy weather we've been having (though I did certainly appreciate a lovely sunny Saturday last weekend).
It's no wonder that I fell in love with the Body Blitz Spa in Toronto. Housed in a huge and charming warehouse space in the heart of Toronto, Body Blitz boasts a 38 foot dead sea salt pool, hot green tea pool, cold plunging pool, aromatherapy steam room and infrared sauna. They also offer a variety of treatments such as massage and salt scrubs, but I haven't tried those. You have to get out of the water to get a treatment!
When you arrive, you're given towels, a robe, slippers and a key for a locker. Since the spa is for women only, bathing suits are optional, and worn by about half the clientele. Any products you might need during your visit, such as soap, shampoo, conditioner, moisturizers, etc. are provided. They even have hair dryers and hair products in their make up room. They ask you to limit your stay to two and a half hours, but I've had a hard time dragging my pruned and de-boned body away in less than three hours, especially when you can order hot herbal teas and healthy smoothies to be brought to you in the pool!
Are you ready to drop what you're doing and drive to Toronto to experience this healing wonder in the city? If so, you might want to consider joining us for our first ever Wavelengths field trip on Wednesday, June 8.
We'll carpool to the city, spend the afternoon at the spa, treat ourselves to dinner afterwards while the rush hour traffic subsides, then make our way back to Norwood in the early evening.
There will be a sign up sheet at the studio, and you can indicate if you'd be willing to drive or if you need a ride. Or, you can let me know by email if you'd like to join us.
Date: Wednesday, June 8, 2011
Cost: $48 entry fee, plus dinner and gas/parking

YogaDance |
Due to the popularity of Tiina's spring YogaDance series, she has agreed to come back in June to offer one more class before the summer!
YogaDance is a unique fusion of yoga and ecstatic dance. When we dance our yoga, we allow for a free flow of energy; freeing blockages, cleansing and purifying, letting go of tension, and returning to our natural state of freedom and joy. No experience in Yoga or Dance is necessary, just a willingness to play and explore. All are welcome!
Dates: Friday, June 10, 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Cost: $15, plus HST Location: Wavelengths Yoga

Early Morning Yoga Immersion
Description: Immerse yourself in a regular morning yoga practice for a week. Each class will have a theme, which is woven into the theme for the week: creating and living a joyful life. Yoga philosophy is very clear in telling us that the practice of yoga works to calm the mind, allowing us access to our natural blissful state of being. The physical practice will be gentle and therapeutic, allowing us the space to go deeply into silence through breathwork, meditation, visualization and chanting. Dynamic movements, coordinated with the breath for maximum effect, are designed to energize you for your day, sending you off with a spring in your step.
Dates: Monday, June 13 - Friday June 17 - 6:30 - 7:30 a.m. Cost: $65, plus HST Location: Wavelengths Yoga Instructor: Caroline

Thank you John and Monique Yearwood |
Last Thursday's wind storm left us without power for a short time, unlike many in the area who had no power for several days.
One of the results of the storm at the studio was that a tree near the back parking lot lost a limb that blocked the back entrance for a day until John Yearwood kindly offerred to come by with his chainsaw and cut it up so I could haul it away. Monique stacked while John cut and in short order, the driveway was clear. Thank you, John and Monique for your kindness and your effort. It is much appreciated.
