Dear (Contact First Name),
2010 is the year for weddings and celebrations of love's longevity amongst my family and friends. In June, my parents celebrated 50 years of marriage, just a week after a family friend (whom we've known since her birth) was married to her university sweetheart. I was also honoured to witness the wedding of dear friends who, after 14 years together proclaimed their ceremony as "getting more married."
All of these celebrations have got me thinking about love. Love hasn't always come easily to me. Or should I say I haven't always easily accepted the love that has come to me. I've deflected and resisted love, and came to understand that it was because I didn't love myself. As I have learned to love myself, I see that love is flowing towards me all the time. I believe that love is the foundation for all spiritual and personal growth. When we accept and love ourselves, we let go of our habitual patterns of self loathing, self-pity, negative self-talk, and addictions.
You don't need a ceremony, a fancy dress or a tux, a guest list or invitations. Just be nice to yourself. Stop telling yourself stories that degrade and hurt you. Accept your shortcomings with kindness, and nudge yourself towards greatness. Share your love with yourself and others, and watch it grow. |

Ashtanga Yoga with Caroline Owen
In this workshops, poses from the Ashtanga Yoga primary and second series are explored, with a focus on opening the hips and shoulders.
Date: Sunday, October 3

Location: Path to Stillness, Lindsay, Ontario
 Anusara is a hatha yoga system that unites a joyful celebration of the heart with powerful principles of alignment. Anusara is a Sanskrit word which means "follow your heart". When we follow our heart we meet the challenges of asana on the mat with compassion and humour. We learn to embrace all of ourselves, to see the good and refine and enhance the beauty within.

Introduction to Vedic Chanting with Caroline Owen
Learn some of the basic rules of chanting in Sanskrit from the ancient texts of India. We'll warm up with a simple asana (movement) practice, look at chanting theory, practice some simple chants, and end with a meditative practice encorporating breath work, chanting and movement.

Location: The Humanistic Yoga Centre, Peterborough
Professional Development Day for Yoga Instructors
Network with local teachers, while learning about different styles of yoga, including both practice and theory. This is a full day event with various workshops to be confirmed. Possible topics include Yoga Therapy, hands-on assisting, Yoga Dance, running a successful yoga business and more. Classes will be taught by experienced local instructors. If you are a yoga instructor, or enrolled in a yoga teacher training program, you're welcome to participate.

Dance |
Jacquelyn Toupin, a long-time student at Wavelengths and fabulous dance teacher, will be opening her dance school at the studio this fall. Join her on Saturday August 28th, from 10:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. to register, or call 705-761-2579 for more information. There will be classes for all ages, from 5 to adult. She will be offering ballet, jazz, and hip hop. No experience neccessary!
