July/2010
urdva dhanurasana
Greetings!

EnChanted EveningThanks to everyone who came from near and far to attend An Enchanted Evening on June 18.  The event was very well attended and we raised $235 for local charities.

One of the participants wrote a story about the evening for the local paper.  You can read it here

You may have heard about the event through The Link magazine, a local resource for arts, entertainment and soulful living, which is widely distributed through the counties of Northumberland, Peterborough, Hastings and Prince Edward.  Many of the participants read the announcement in the May/June issue and came to check it out.

As of the July/August issue, hot off the press this past week, I have a regular column in The Link, offering a commentary on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the definitive text on yoga philosophy.  I will be applying the ancient wisdom to our modern world with the content derived from hundreds of hours of study, in person, with my teachers, T.K.V. Desikachar and Kausthub Desikachar, private sessions with my mentor, Dolphi Wertenbaker, MD and the study of several translations and commentaries on the sutras.  You can pick up the magazine in hundreds of area locations, or download it from the website at www.the-link.ca

If you have an event or a business to promote, try advertising it in The Link.  You'll not only get your ad seen by thousands of local like-minded people, you will also be supporting a local small business.  Contact The Link at the-link@sympatico.ca.

Read on to find out more about summer events at Wavelengths Yoga, including a selection of weekly classes and a week long yoga "picnic" for kids.

Summer Schedule

Summer classes run from Monday July 12 - Friday August 27 (6 weeks). The studio will be closed the week of August 9 - 13.   We are installing air conditioning this week, so you can practice in cool comfort at Wavelengths this summer.

Please note: There is a minimum number of students required to run a class.  Classes that don't meet that minimum by the end of this week (July 10) will be cancelled.  If you've registered for that class, you can choose another class, or have your course fee refunded.  If you're planning to join us for the summer, PLEASE REGISTER THIS WEEK.  You can register online at www.wavelengthyoga.com/register_online.htm or call 639-8937.  You can always register later if the class is running, but your early registration is much appreciated, if possible.

Missed classes in the summer:  If you are planning to be away over the summer, you can make up missed classes during the first few weeks of the fall term (for students who register in the fall term only).  Your time to make up classes will be extended by the number of weeks that you're away.  For example, if you're on vacation for two weeks, you will have an extension of two weeks into the fall to make up missed summer classes.

This journey of discovery will be led by Margo Lee,  teacher, librarian and yoga instructor. Margo's imagination and devotion to educating young minds, makes for playful and precise learning. Children will benefit from greater focus, concentration, balance, body-mind awareness and flexibility.  Ages 5 - 11.
