Support Naromi!

Dear Friend of Naromi,

Naromi is gearing up for the busy spring season, planning events, including for Earth Day and Trails Day, and looking forward to educational events like the annual Connecticut Land Conservation Council conference on March 24th.

Many of us are grateful for the mild days and lack of snow.  The bare trees and frozen ground make for good conditions to inspect NLT properties and clear debris still on the ground from Storm Alfred.  In other ways we look forward to a plentiful snowfall to get out there on snowshoes and cross-country skis.  Naromi led several winter excursions in January and February of last year that were so much fun - it would be great to be able to do it again this year!  We'll see what conditions are like on February 19th. Where do you fall in this debate?  are you missing snow sports or are you grateful to keep your shovel tucked away?

Seeking Board Members
Naromi seeking new Board Members to join our team! We're looking for a few dedicated individuals passionate about conservation in Sherman who are ready to roll up their sleeves behind the scenes.  Contact the office if you are interested - we would love to hear from you!

Environmental Threats in Your Garden
Even though we have more months of winter to endure, its not too early to start thinking about invasives and your garden.  In case you missed it - check out this editorial published in the Litchfield County Times on January 12 entitled " Boxwood Threat a Yawn? No Way".

Mark Your Calendar!
Earth Day weekend is April 21-22 this year.  Look for details coming soon on Naromi events we are planning now!

Group: Hadlow 2/6/11
Snowshoeing (and skiing!) at Hadlow Preserve February 2011

Mark your calendar for a winter hike on Sunday, February 19th at 1:30 pm.  The exact timing and location are weather dependent - if there is snow on the ground we will be snowshoeing at Hadlow fields, but with a frozen ground and no snow, we could go almost anywhere.  Watch for last minute details via email or on our website as the date approaches.

Hike on January 15th
A small group came out on a cold day to hike at Irene's Woods on January 15th.
