University's Web Site Now Mobile

The University has launched a mobile-browser supported web site, m.mercer.edu. Dubbed Mercer Mobile, the site delivers content, services and features that allow users to access and interact with the University on the go. The site works with iPhone, Blackberry, Android and other smartphones to provide access to information on University news and events, athletics news, updates from the Grand Opera House, the Trolley Tracker and more, all immediately available anytime. To use Mercer Mobile, navigate to http://m.mercer.edu on your device's mobile browser. Users will need a web-enabled phone or device such as an iPhone, BlackBerry, Android, Windows, or other smartphone, as well as a data plan from a wireless carrier, or a WiFi connection.

The President's Fall Staff Meeting for the Macon Campus is Monday, Sept. 13 at 4 p.m. in the Medical School Auditorium.


Dates Set for the Tuition Exchange Program

The annual fall meeting for Macon faculty and staff to learn about the Tuition Exchange Program is Friday, Sept. 3, in the Connell Student Center Conference Room 2, 1:30 - 3 p.m. Learn how this program, based on years of service, may earn a tuition scholarship for the children of faculty and staff. Faculty/staff with seniors in high school are welcomed. Learn about myths, fallacies and facts about the tuition exchange program.

One Sensational Season at The Grand Opera House

Season tickets are on sale for the 2010-2011 Broadway Series, titled "One Sensational Season," at The Grand Opera House, a performing arts center of Mercer University. Featuring a six-show Broadway Series, the 2010-2011 season subscriptions can be purchased through Mercer Ticket Sales at (478) 301-5470 or Online at The Grand's web site www.TheGrandMacon.com. Mercer faculty and staff are eligible for payroll deduction when purchasing season tickets.  The Broadway Series includes the first musical ever written by composer Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, "Oklahoma," Oct. 19-20; the Elvis-inspired jukebox musical, "All Shook Up," Feb. 9-10; the greatest family musical of all time, "The Wizard of Oz," March 15-16; the 2005 Tony-Award winning show inspired by the Monty Python motion picture, "Spamalot," April 5-6; the longest running show on Broadway about 17 dancers putting themselves on the line for their dream in "A Chorus Line," April 17; and the musical based on the award-winning book by Alice Walker, "The Color Purple," May 3-4.


Choral Society of Middle Georgia Auditions


Dr. John H. Dickson, dean of Mercer University's Townsend School of Music, is now actively recruiting new singers to join the Choral Society for the upcoming year. The choir will perform fall, Christmas and spring concerts featuring great masterworks and accompanied by an orchestra. This will be the first year that Mercer undergraduate and graduate students will be able to receive course credit for participating. Auditions for singers will be held on Aug. 16, 5 - 8 p.m.; Aug. 17, 4 - 6 p.m.; Aug. 30, 6 - 7 p.m. and Sept. 13, 6 - 7 p.m. For more information or to schedule an audition please contact Angela Blizzard at [email protected].

The annual fall meeting for Atlanta faculty and staff to learn more about the Tuition Exchange Program is Thursday, Sept. 2, in Room #2 of the Business/Education Building from 2:30 -4:30 p.m. (with sessions beginning at the half hours and individual questions taken on the hour) .

Lofts @ Mercer Village

The west side of the Macon campus continues to change daily with construction under way in the College Hill Corridor on the Lofts @ Mercer Village, which will house the new Barnes & Noble bookstore, loft apartments and retail establishments Designer Tans, Fountain of Juice and Margarita's Mexican Grill. Mercer Village already features Ingleside Pizza, Francar's Wings, Jittery Joe's, The Bike Store, Georgia Public Broadcasting studios and the College Hill Alliance office.
