Volunteers Needed for Mrs. Butler's Retirement Reception
If you are available to help with parking and traffic direction during the Friday, May 11, retirement reception, please contact Ann West (214-354-9290).
White Rock Spring Games
The community that plays together wins together! This first-ever, fun-filled day is just a week-and-a-half away. Registration is still open. The cost for a team of four is $100, and those competitors may take part in all of the events. Single participants may also register to compete in the Open Events for $25. 100% of the registration fees from St. John's families will come back to the school, so the more our kids play, the more our school wins!
Register now>> to participate in this Olympics-style field day or read this week's White Rock Spring Games newsletter>> for details.
Parent volunteers are needed as game supervisors, referees and scorekeepers. Help is also needed to man the information desk, first-aid station and on-site communications. If you are interested, check out the volunteer signup>>

Can you believe that WE DID ALL OF THIS? Amazing. We packed this year full with positive enthusiasm and lots of hard work. Your hours of time, creativity and tenacity have turned the past 12 months into a record-setting year for the Parents Association. Your commitment to the PA is what makes this school unique, and a better place for our kids. Thank you, thank you, thank you for joining in and giving of yourself!
A special thanks to our partners in the Crusader Club. You guys are amazing. And, to the school staff. Without your fabulous and unending support, our success would not be possible. Thank you, thank you, thank you! For your continued and genuine support of the Parents Association. It is truly appreciated.

In addition to old favorites (Dads 'n Kids Donuts breakfast, Suds 'n Buds social) and new traditions (third annual Crusader Club Cares Day, second annual Family Movie Night), the Crusader Club sponsored two new events this year:
Holiday Hayride
On a Friday night in December, families gathered at the home of a St. John's family for pictures with Santa, hot chocolate, s'mores and other holiday festivities. Then everyone at this sell-out event boarded seven hay-filled trailers for a tour around Lakewood to enjoy Christmas lights.
Basketball Skills Clinics
The Crusader Club introduced a successful new initiative this year: the winter basketball skills clinics. More than 100 third through eighth graders participated in the 12-week pilot program facilitated by Sportsplex. Plans are in the works for additional clinics for other sports including baseball, soccer and volleyball.
Disbursements
The majority of money raised by the Crusader Club will directly support athletic programs and community service initiatives at St. John's. This year, the school received funding for three tetherballs on the playground, four new glass backboards for the Main Gym, a basketball shooting machine, as well as support for service learning and community-building events.
A portion of last year's golf tournament proceeds have been earmarked for learning spaces on the Hillcrest Foundation Rooftop Garden in the Beasley Foundation Science Wing.
