Greetings!

Welcome to the September edition of our Discover More
newsletter.
Introductory Study Package
If you are considering adding Metabolic Profiling to your research, but don't know where to start or have found others unaffordable then we can help.

We make it easy and affordable to access our technology platform via a wide range of services. Try our standard MetaProfile Services or sign up for an Introductory Research Study.  Chenomx's new Introductory
Research Study package provides a turn-key, all-in-one metabolic profiling research solution that delivers concrete metabolomics results for a low price.

The Introductory Research Study package opens the door for hypothesis generating results that you can use for grant proposals. Chenomx's unique technology platform is ideal for such pilot studies, providing:
  • Global, non-specific screen of metabolites detectable by 1H NMR.
  • Identification and quantification of hundreds of individual metabolites.
  • Highly reproducible results.
  • Easy-to-interpret results that are readily mapped to metabolic pathways.
  • The ability to uncover biological relevance that would otherwise be lost.
  • An end result that allows you to reach decision points faster with better quality data.
A typical study includes (although it is not limited to this):
  • Expert consultation on study design.
  • Analysis of 40 biological samples (urine, serum, cell extract, etc.).
  • Statistical analysis to help generate hypotheses.
  • Full report and data delivery.
We even offer a significant Academic discount to accredited researchers and will handle small sample sets (even under 10 samples)!

Publications Using Chenomx NMR Suite
http://chenomx.com/publications/index.htmlIn the February 2009 issue of Metabolomics, there was a study published by Shaykhutdinov et al. entitled Quantitative analysis of metabolite concentrations in human urine samples using 13C{1H} NMR spectroscopy.

This paper used the patented "Targeted Profiling" technology of Chenomx NMR Suite to create a customized 13C{1H}NMR database incorporating 120 metabolites. The 13C{1H} NMR database was standardized through the analysis of a series of metabolite solutions containing varying concentrations of 19 distinct metabolites, where the metabolite concentrations were varied across a range of values including biological ranges. Subsequently, the NMR spectra of urine samples were collected using 13C{1H} NMR spectroscopy and profiled using the 13C{1H} NMR library. The proton decoupling and larger spectral window provided easier identification and more accurate quantification for specific classes of metabolites, such as sugars and amino acids with overlap in the aliphatic region of the 1H NMR spectrum. They discuss potential application areas in which 13C{1H} NMR targeted profiling may be superior to 1H NMR targeted profiling.

Metabolomics Society Conference Review
The 5th annual Metabolomics Society conference, held in our hometown of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, was a great success! Not only were the workshops and talks well received, but the weather was beautiful the entire time.

Everyone at Chenomx enjoyed reconnecting with many of you and meeting several others for the first time...it was nice to finally put a face to a name!  We hope we were able to address any questions you had about how our contract services and software can help you with your research.

Next year's conference will be held June 27th to July 1st 2010 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. For more information about next year's conference click here.
Chenomx NMR Suite 6.0 Tips
Chenomx NMR Suite When using the Profiler module in Chenomx NMR Suite 6.0, you can click repeatedly anywhere under the sum line (red) in the Spectrum View to cycle through the compounds contributing to the sum line at the frequency that you clicked.
