 Cell Extracts Metabolic Profiling
 
The Chenomx MetaProfile is a cost-effective method for measuring concentrations of many metabolites found in cell extract samples. The Chenomx MetaProfile is designed for repeatability and reproducibility, and can be used for both large and small studies. Results are fully quantitative, allowing data to be compared across long-term studies.

Using Chenomx's patented targeted profiling technique, NMR spectra can be easily translated into compound information relevant to the underlying biology. Customers using MetaProfiles obtained from Chenomx technology include some of the world's largest life sciences companies, as well as leading universities in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
 
Chenomx has experience with various cell types, including E.coli, CHO (Chinese Hamster Ovary cells), and insect cells.  Chenomx services will offer a wide range of sample preparation options, including full cell lysis protocols from pellets (whole cells) to NMR ready samples.  The Chenomx MetaProfile produces a metabolic profile, which can be used to monitor the effects of disease, diet, toxins or pharmaceuticals on an organism. The Chenomx MetaProfile is particularly valuable in understanding effects on metabolic pathways since it is an inherently quantitative method providing a global view of the metabolites. Applications include:

· Toxicology and safety assessment - early identification of toxic effects

· Drug metabolism studies - metabolic pathway analysis, pharmacokinetics

· Biologics Process Development - including bioreactor media formulation to cellular metabolism and monitoring

The Chenomx platform is also ideal for many other sample types including urine, plasma/serum, saliva, CSF, and more.

Publications Using Chenomx NMR Suite
In the June 2008 edition of the Journal of Proteome Research, Hagel et al. used Chenomx NMR Suite in their study entitled Quantitative 1H nuclear magnetic resonance metabolite profiling as a functional genomics platform to investigate alkaloid biosynthesis in opium poppy.  As part of a functional genomics platform, they used (1)H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) metabolite profiling for the analysis of primary and secondary metabolism in opium poppy. Aqueous and chloroform extracts of six different opium poppy cultivars were subjected to chemometric analysis. Principle component analysis of the (1)H NMR spectra for latex extracts clearly distinguished two varieties, including a low-alkaloid variety and a high-thebaine, low-morphine cultivar.To see the abstract and sign-in to read the paper click here.

type a value directly to set the concentration. Type a number from 0 to 5000 mM (or
equivalent concentrations in μM or mg/dL), or type "--" to set the concentration to
unknown.
