Retaliation Against Employees is Illegal
What's your policy?
Employees are protected by a number of laws against retaliation for complaining to their employers or other government agencies about unsafe or unhealthful conditions in the workplace, environmental problems, certain public safety hazards, and certain violations of federal provisions concerning securities fraud, as well as for engaging in other related protected activities.
Part of what makes retaliation claims so dangerous is that there are multiple ways for an employer to do something that looks like retaliation even though it isn't intended to be. Therefore it is extremely important that organizations have a concrete Anti-retaliation policy in place and educate their managers and employees on the topic.

Changes to Oklahoma's Law on Workplace Drug & Alcohol Testing
The Oklahoma Legislature recently passed radical changes to the Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Act. The changes, effective November 1, 2011, make it easier for employers to conduct drug and alcohol testing on employees and harder for those employees to bring a lawsuit claiming their rights have been violated.
Oklahoma Employers who want to ensure that their company is compliant with these changes should contact ProValue HR Specialist Andrea Atkinson. |
