FORM I-9 U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services
The 2009 Form I-9 that was originally scheduled to go into effect yesterday has been delayed for 60 days, until April 3, 2009. According to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services the delay will allow them extra time to consider the rule change that affects which documents are acceptable to use on the I-9 to verify employment eligibility.
PLEASE NOTE: Any employer who uses the revised Form I-9 before April 3, 2009 may be subject to penalties. You should continue using the old form to avoid such penalties.
