August 2012

Greetings!

Positive psychology has identified many ways people can increase their happiness. But what happiness habits are right for you?

Happiness expert Sonja Lyubomirsky has explored why some happiness activities work for some people but not others. In a new article, we reveal her secrets to getting the most out of these activities--in other words, "the fine print" of how to be happy, the details you should consider before trying to boost your happiness.

Also be sure to check out our new slideshow illustrating a dozen research-tested happiness activities you can start practicing today, guided by Lyubomirsky's science-based wisdom.

Help Bring Compassion to Classrooms
The GGSC is helping the internationally renowned Roots of Empathy program expand in the San Francisco Bay Area this fall--and there's a way you can
help it bring compassion to more classrooms.

The program is looking for volunteers to serve as Roots of Empathy Instructors in Oakland and San Francisco. ROE instructors typically have experience working with children; the position requires a two-year commitment.

If you live in the Bay Area and would like more information, please email [email protected]. You can also learn more at an information session on September 4, from 7-8pm, at the Montclair Presbyterian Church in Oakland.
