February 2011

Greetings!

Surprise! Or fear? What do you

think this face is expressing?

To find out, take this new quiz we've developed to test--

and teach--emotional intelligence. It's quick, it's fun--and holds a key to understanding others.

And we've got more big news: Our first webinars! No matter where you live, you can join us for the webcasts of upcoming Science of a Meaningful Life seminars. Click here or read below for more details about our April events.

This month on Greater Good, you'll also find Christine Carter's
useful (and sexy) relationship tips, research on an altruism gene, and studies you'll want to bring up at your next cocktail party.

How Well Do You Read Other People?

Based on years of research by Paul Ekman and Dacher Keltner, our short quiz helps you decipher a hidden language of emotions--and shows how well you can decode the feelings of others.

Reading facial expressions is essential to forming compassionate connections.

So take the quiz, learn your score, and share it with friends!

8 Weeks to a Better Brain?

Meditation and the brainDoes meditation change the brain?

A new study suggests that meditating for just 30 minutes a day for eight weeks can bulk up brain regions associated with memory, stress regulation, and empathy. Read all about it here.
