Dear family and friends,
This coming weekend, we in Canada are celebrating Thanksgiving.
We cannot let this opportunity pass without thanking the Lord for His faithfulness in missions. Since our first project in Ecuador in 2002, MMI has done a total of 68 projects, in various countries. We have seen the Lord at work through these medical mission projects, in the lives of our patients and also in our personal lives. Our faith has been built up as we have seen lives transformed.
We are honored to have worked alongside all of you and we are mindful also of all the supporters and people who have prayed for these missions. This unity in service to the Lord is rewarded with many people finding peace that comes from receiving salvation in Christ who died for us.
Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving!

Submitted by Wanda Belton - Dental assistant (Mrs Belton assisted in the dental ministry during the September project in Peru.)
I was amazed to see how a little building with a dusty floor could be transformed into a dental clinic, complete with a table covered with sterile cloths lined with numerous surgical instruments, tw o portable dental chairs, dental drills, and with a suction system using a garage shop-vac. This spoke to me that the dental providers cared to go to this much trouble to provide the best possible mobile clinic for the precious patients they serve. After seeing all this, I sensed I was in a God ordained place. I learned that I could become so focused on the mission at hand that I barely thought about home, family or friends, which I do truly care about but God let the people of Cocachacra become more important. God cares so much for everyone that He touches the hearts of certain individuals and moves them with the desire to sacrifice time, money, and comfort to bring them His love.

"This is my 5th mission trip and the best one for me because the careful planning made the work flow well and it was an absolute joy to see the dental team (new to me) and the dentist who took the time to teach two team members and explained the principles to us all. The set-up flowed so well because of careful planning and attention to detail and the good practice of medicine. The pharmacy ran like clockwork and the flow of patients was busy but always cared for. The urgent needs of patients were met with Christ's love. I was most impressed by the focus on counselling, to really care for these souls Christ died for, and to present the Gospel of Christ clearly to all who came. I would welcome the opportunity to work with MMI again in the future, if God opens that door."

I was delighted to see how God had selected a team of people from America, together with the people of Cocachacra and Lima, Peru, to serve and give glory and honor to Him. By providing dental and medical services, and by sharing the gospel, we were able to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the Peruvian people. It was inspiring to see how much the members of the church loved the Lord through the expression of their heartfelt worship, and the outpouring of their service to their people and to us. I'm sure the Lord was pleased with "His People". The entire trip was such a wonderful experience for me that I can't stop thinking of the people, what was done there, and how we all worked so well together as a team. We all felt very bonded to each other and found it difficult to say, "Good bye". I continue to pray for all the members of the team. I thank God for allowing me to be a part of this Medical Mission to Peru.

The 1000 km run/walk for the construction of the Dorcas Center in Mali, Africa.
On September 18, 2010, two churches took the challenge to walk/run 1000 km in order to release $5000 that was committed toward the construction of the Dorcas Center in Mali, Africa. Participants from Durham Evangelical Church in New Hampshire and Hope Church in Sarasota, Florida, walked more than 1000km.
Congratulations and a sincere "thank you" for this tremendous effort to help in the construction of the center which will benefit the needy children in Mali.
On the day of the walk, one lady especially inspired us in her commitment to missions. Mrs. Sharon Bartlett over the years has donated needed items to teams going to the mission field. However, in 2009 she suffered a car accident leaving her with many broken bones. Her determination and her trust in the Lord has brought her along in rehabilitation. She is now walking with a walker. On September 18, Mrs. Bartlett wanted to participate to the walk/run for the Dorcas Center. She convinced a friend to push her in a wheelchair, so she could turn in her 10 k.
Mrs. Bartlett, your dedication to missions has inspired us all. We pray blessings of healing over you for a full recovery.

Thank you for your generous and continuing help in the building of the Dorcas Center. In January, 2010, we started the construction of the three-classroom building on the compound of the Center, next to the dorm. The construction is not finished but we are pleased with the progress.

October, 2010, view of the three-classroom school under construction. The dorm is now ready to be painted. A team from Durham Evangelical Church in NH will help painting the dorm in January, 2011 |

On Sunday after we set up the pharmacy, we had some time with the volunteers from the National church. After some delightful greetings and a prayer, we began worshipping through song. One member of the National team led us with great passion and a voice of profoun d gratefulness and admiration. I felt the Holy Spirit in our midst as we lifted our hearts in praise to the Father. It is through these unifying experiences of giving God the glory that I could learn lessons Him. He taught me to be open and obedient and to trust Him. In the beginning of the week and on a few occasions during the clinic days, I felt inadequate and that maybe my skills were not really needed. This turned out to be a blessing because I was freed up to do a variety of tasks, including talking to the people. God did have a plan for me and I becme very much a part of the team, but it was His way. God's plan is far bigger than my plan. |
