Oufff - Done! (Madeleine Allard)
OTTAWA 1/2 Marathon.
It took 2:23 hr to complete the run. I crossed the finish line with a smile but was not really interested in running one more kilometer. I know it was not spectacular timewise, but what is spectacular is the support you gave toward the construction of the Dorcas Center in Mali Africa. You sponsorship raised a total of $2158.90. That is a huge amount of money. You have definitively sent a message of love to the children of Mali and a message of hope to the leadership in charge of the project.
Thanks to all of you! Together we are moving forward in the construction to rescue these abandoned children and to give them a safe and loving home. On behalf of the team in Mali, and the staff of MMI, we thank you for your sponsorship.
Sincerely, Madeleine

JUNE OUTREACH - AUCALLAMA, PERU May 31-June 7, 2008
Peru is a country of diversities. All the projects are different in Peru. Our last project in Aucallama was in an agricultural area about 3 hours north of Lima. The residents of Aucallama are hired to work in the fields or they sell their own farm products in Lima. Even though the cost of food is increasing, it is not being transfered to them, rather the cost of producing the food is increasing. Many people were quick to tell us their sad stories of survival. They are hard workers but they don't have much hope for a better future.
The kids were talking of their dreams to go away for prosperity. You felt deep sadness from the parents and uncertainties from the children.
When the volunteers of the church shared the love of Jesus to them, more than half of the patients responded to the hope that is found in Jesus.
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplications with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Phil 4:6,7
We were a team of 24 people including the translators and the MMI staff in Peru. There were Canadians and Americans from 5 differents states. The core of the team came from Grace Fellowship, NY State. |
GIFT OF SIGHT (Submitted by Tammy DeSaulnier-Peru June 2008)
'My favorite moment was when we helped an elderly women with eye glasses. She was probably in her late 80s. Her face was tired and worn. When she settled on a pair, she started to cry, because she was so happy. I just held on to her. She said, "You are a blessing, a blessing from God!"
This made me realize the impact we can have, no matter how small it seems to us. It is an act of love that enable them to have more faith in God.' |
CHILDREN MINISTRY IN AUCALLAMA (submitted by Emily Cloutier) "This trip to Peru has been like no other trip before. One moment really impressed my heart. We went to the School for our second day to teach the children about how they can accept Jesus into their hearts. We sang songs with them and then shared with them the salvation bracelet. Some little girls asked to sing a song to us. As all the children stood at the front of the class and sang, I began to have tears in my eyes. We had come thousands of miles and spent hundred of dollars so that we could touch their lives and these little children touched our hearts deeply. We came to give and serve them and we ended up being the ones getting blessed. As we were leaving, they wanted to sing another song, this time not to us but with us. They taught us our parts and we sang together."
The childrens ministry was enjoyed by everyone, young and old alike. And, yes, ELMO still can charm little old ladies!
Nothing like a kiss from ELMO to make you smile!! |

INTRODUCING MMI VOLUNTEER OFFICE STAFF
The ministry is made up of many volunteers - participants, team leaders, in-country project managers, in-country church volunteers, and many, many others who give sacrificially of their time collecting medicines or supplies, and others who give financially to the participants, or to the Ministry. All have a passion to share of themselves so that others will find the treasure we have in Jesus.
The MMI family is growing every year with people having different talents and with a kindred spirit of wanting to work together to sustain the ministry that the Lord has given us.
We feel the Lord wants to use His people through this ministry, and all of you are important to accomplish His plan. We have been hearing wonderful reports from Nicaragua and Peru on how the Lord has used the medical outreaches to strenghten the churches. Even in Muslim countries such as Mali, the Lord has used the medical outreaches to bring people to Him. In Konna (a Muslim village in Mali), people are now starting to come closer to the Christian church after the medical outreach was done there last February.
Then we have a group of people praying for the participants going on each outreach and for its success.
Many people are being used by the Lord to accomplish His purposes.
This month, we would like to introduce the volunteers in the office, that many of you have never met or have even heard of. They are committed people, working to facilitate your experience on the mission field. We appreciate them and value their ministry.
Thanks ladies, for your commitment to the minstry!
