Mali, Africa
We just finished our third outreach in Konna, located at 600 km north of Bamako. We stayed in tents inside the compound of pastor Timote's home and church. Working in this isolated land was very challenging (at times with heat exceeding 40' Celsius). A small group of Malians came with us and together we cared for the physical and spiritual needs of the people living in this arid land. We saw 351 patients and 29 expressed the desire to receive a visit from Pastor Timote and to study the Word of God. It is a land dominated by Islam.
We left the area with a commitment to do another outreach in the "bush" where the needs are so great.
We thank Menlo Park Presbyterian Church in California and Durham Evangelical Church in New Hampshire who contributed to this outreach with medicine.
May the Lord bless you all as we are joining together in medical outreaches to see many come to the Lord.

Medicine in the Desert
I never saw myself going to an African desert, sleeping in a tent, and practicing medicine in less than 100% sanitary conditions. Fifty years on the planet in comfort and thirty years in nursing for the best hospitals did not lead me to think such a stretch was possible.
Fortunately our God sees our potential and ability to grow, and it extends far beyond any limitations we place on ourselves.
Through all the sand, flies, and chanting muslims I saw the Glory of God shine. His healing was brought to such needy people, His comforting spirit was sent to those without hope, and He unfailingly supported His servants who were willing to step out and follow him.
If you hear Gods voice calling, do not be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. I promise you will be greatly rewarded!
God Bless

| Nicaragua (submitted by Mary Ezzell) |
The transition back to life in Nicaragua has gone well for me. We have been meeting with Nicaraguan pastors and churches in preparation for the medical outreaches in March and April. I had forgotten that arriving 30 minutes LATE for a meeting was equivalent to arriving right on time! I had also not remembered the awkward feeling I get when I am stared at as I walk down the streets of my neighborhood. Folks weren't used to seeing the "chelita" (white girl) in the neighborhood anymore.
On a more serious note, we have noticed significant changes in the requirements that the Nicaraguan health department has mandated for medical teams to enter Nicaragua. These changes have to do with the new Sandinista government's desire to centralize health care and gain more power and control. God has used and is using medical teams to expand His kingdom, encourage the local church to reach out to their communities, and provide much needed medical care and medicines to Nicaraguans. We are trusting in God and do not anticipate for teams to have problems entering Nicaragua. Join us in praying for Nicaragua, the upcoming medical outreaches, and for smooth passage of all medical teams entering Nicaragua.

| Dorcas Educational Center, Senou, Africa |
Some of you have asked the question "What is the Dorcas Educational Center?" It is a center presently in construction in Senou, Mali Africa that will house kids that are abandonned by their family or they are orphans. In Mali there are a lot of those kids that are not attending school and living in the streets. The vision that the National church in Mali has, is to provide a home for these children where they will grow in safety, love, and in the knowledge of the Lord. Without international partners it will make it very difficult to complete this project because the churches in Mali are too poor to build such a center. The construction was started in November 2006. We now have a concrete block fence around the property the size of two football fields. A well has been dug and the construction of the dorm (a 2 story building) has started (see the picture).
MMI is lending a hand to this project by sending 100% of the donations for the building of the center. We thank the Durham Evangelical Church in NH for their financial contribution in starting the construction of the dorm and to all the friends of Medical Mission International who believe in this project

| The MMI team from Bethany Church, NH last August excavated the site and raised a wooden frame building that will serve as a church in Jicamarca. The church was left without a roof. Now the roof has been completed with the money that Loy left from the Conerstone Metro Church MI.
Now they are able to hold services in the new building. (no picture provided) |
