Greetings!
Every day of my Dad's adult life he ate an orange freshly picked from his backyard. Soon after moving to California and buying his first home, he planted orange, lemon, avocado, plum and peach trees. In each subsequent home he owned, he always planted fruit trees.
During my childhood, Dad would pick three fresh oranges from the tree just before dinner. He would peel them and cut them in half. He placed half an orange face down on each small plate and then cut them into small cubes. Each family member would use a fork to eat their orange cubes as a first course.
More recently, my father's routine was to select a freshly-picked orange from a bowl on the counter, whether a navel or Valencia, slice it into eight wedges, pull the fruit from the peel and then pop each wedge into his mouth while standing by his kitchen sink and looking out the window at his laden orange trees.
When I left home to go to college, I missed not being able to eat freshly-picked oranges. I had never bought an orange before.
Today, in memory of my 94 year-old Dad who recently passed away in his sleep, I planted a Satsuma tree in our backyard in Louisiana. I look forward to when I too can look out my kitchen window, admire the fruit and enjoy its bounty.
During this holiday season, what family traditions are you continuing?
All my best,
Sue Schleifer

Below are what some of my clients have said about the coaching experience. "Since I first hired a coach I have been a happier person and a more successful businessman. My company has become much more successful, our employees have had the opportunity to grow to the fullest of their capabilities and everyone seems to enjoy each day of life much more than in the past." President "I was drawn to Sue based on her philosophy and background and knew I made the right decision when we 1st met. She helped me work through ideas and thoughts and got me moving in the right direction.
She even helped me re-connect with someone from my past that has now been instrumental in my current growth. I am truly thankful!" Chief People Officer
