What's New at the Holladay House...

Sam's diggin in the dirt again: Later this Spring, Sam convinced Sharon to let him play in the dirt again.  He will again be putting his archaeology training to work as he returns to the site behind the house where he uncovered a number of middle to late 19th century artifacts last year.  The "midden," a term archaeologists use to identify areas where past occupants discarded broken valuables, domestic items, and other trash, has been calling his name all Winter long.  So please excuse the big hole in the landscaping this season -- Sam is hard at play!

Revamping Packages and Upgrades:  Based on your comments, we are revamping our packages and upgrades as we speak!  We will soon be offering "Indulgences", "Packages" and "Itineraries" to help you create the exact getaway you crave!  Some of our guests' favorites will stay (like the homemade dark chocolate lava cake).  And we think the new ones will become favorites too (like the Wine Touring Snack Basket)!

Scraped Down Mantel Room 2

Room Renovation: We are almost finished with our first interior room renovation.  We decided to tackle one of the oldest rooms in the inn, the Victorian Suite.  We methodically scraped down all the woodwork and catalogued all the colors we found.  We cleaned the metalwork throughout the room.  We spent lots of time messing up the library collection at Montpelier researching era-specific interior design.  The Victorian Suite is now almost totally transformed into the John Madison Suite, so named after President James Madison's grand-nephew who lived in this home from c.1843 to 1883.

The Holladay House is 20 Years Old! We are gearing up to celebrate The Holladay House Bed and Breakfast's 20th Anniversary!  The inn has been a haven for travelers for 20 years - and has been and integral part of Main Street for 179 years!  Keep your eyes and ears peeled for celebration information!
