Managing Your Career

A Round Table Discussion with Stein Entertainment...

Choosing to add a manager to your team is a huge and important decision. Though similar in many ways to an agent, a manager's main purpose is to assist you in further developing your career. But for some parents, once they've signed with a management company, the stress and unanswered questions begin to pour in.

"What are my responsibilities?" "How often should I be calling to check in?" "Is my manager really submitting my child?" "Will my manager tell me the truth, and is s/he really asking for feedback from casting directors?"

All of these are perfectly normal questions to have floating through your head.  CIF wanted to get some straight-forward answers directly from the source so we sat down with the managers at Stein Entertainment to discuss some of the pressing details involved in working with a manager.

Built on over 20 years of industry experience, Stein Entertainment Group is a mid-sized management group with clients who work in television, film and commercials. Supported by the owner and president, TJ Stein, up-and-coming managers like Colin Harp, Joshua Finn and Anna Lewkowska come to the table with a variety of experiences within the industry, and while they manage top names like Sara Paxton (Last House on the Left, Halloween Town), they also work together to support the needs of developing young talent.

During our meeting at their offices in West Hollywood, Children In Film had the opportunity to ask some of the very questions you may be asking regarding everything from signing contracts to expectations and receiving feedback.
