Industry Professional finds kids on CIF!
Stephanie Durrer of S&J Talent recently posted an open call notice in the Casting Notices section of our website. She was seeking children ages four through eighteen to be considered for possible representation by her management company.
We are happy to report that her open call was a huge success! S&J took on ChildrenInFilm.com Enhanced Members Mayumi Irene Teensma, Joshua Patterson and Daphne Blunt.

A Child Actor Success Story
Sierra Jade Gerban's mother worked for a Texas CBS affiliate and Sierra, age 9, spent a lot of time at the studio.
"At the age of 5 she wanted to work in the business," mother Kandy Gerban explained.
So Kandy signed Sierra up for a San Antonio agency and paid the fees to have her daughter's pictures posted on their website. Unfortunately Kandy felt obligated to use the agencies services and had no source for locating alternatives.
Although the California Advanced Fee law prohibits agencies from charging upfront fees for services, this is not the case in every state.
"Because of CIF, I now know that Texas agents can charge for services but not as a condition for representation," Kandy explained.
"It really pays to research anything in the business before you move forward," Kandy commented.
After going on only one audition, several years passed with no word. But last October the Gerban family received an audition based on the website's out-of-date photo.
"The very next day we received a phone call and were told that there would be no callback - Sierra had booked the part!"
Sierra's very first role was Faith Ramos in the Bobby Moresco film, "The Kings of Appletown," and from this experience they were introduced to Tara Coet who now represents Sierra and has since booked her on many projects.
"Now I am homeschooling her, taking her to acting lessons weekly and traveling for auditions," Kandy said.
"We definitely learned some expensive lessons. If we had CIF three years ago we probably would have been able to learn about the agency's reputability and connect to great industry pros like Tara Coet, Bobby Moresco and the rest of his awesome team."
