Child Modeling
A great way to launch your career!
So you want to get your child started in the entertainment industry. The first thing that probably comes to mind is acting - that is, landing your child a part in a TV commercial, a movie, or even a sitcom. But have you considered modeling as a way to break in to showbiz?
Getting print work (sometimes referred to as commercial modeling work) is probably the easiest way to enter the industry. In fact, according to actor/model Aaron Marcus, "doing print work is an excellent way to practice your acting skills, gain experience, make wonderful industry connections and earn money."
"Generally people think of models as those tall, thin, glamorous men and women who walk the runways or appear in ads for designer clothes," Marcus explained, "when in fact there is a whole other world of modeling that has nothing to do with runways or the fashion industry. It's called commercial modeling."
These models are both very attractive and regular-looking children who appear in magazines (Teen, Parenting, etc), newspaper ads (Macy's, Target), direct mail pieces, packaging for commercial products (Toys, Games) and even on the Internet. Commercial (ie Print) models are everywhere and the great thing about it is that it creates work for even the youngest of children. And, according to Marcus, "the best part is that you find commercial modeling work virtually everywhere throughout the US, even in small markets."
