Kirk & Candace Cameron

Good news! - It seems that Children In Film isn't the only one catching on to the idea that there are hundreds of successful child-actor stories to be told.  In a recent special edition, People Magazine caught up with more than 100 showbiz kids to find out what they're doing today.  As it turns out, many of them have become very successful, well-adjusted members of society. They've gone on to become adult actors, directors, producers, entrepreneurs and even social advocates.

At Children In Film, we love to recognize Power Parents within the industry that are contributing to the healthy, positive view of child-actors by raising great showbiz kids.

One of People's featured Child Stars is none other than Kirk Cameron star of Growing Pains, whose mother, Barbara Cameron, is one of the  Power Parents on ChildrenInFilm.com.  Barbara and her husband Robert raised four children, two of which were very successful child stars.  Kirk's younger sister Candace was on Full House

"The two children involved with the entertainment industry were no different than the other two kids," explained Barbara in her interview with Children In Film. " Bridgette and Melissa commented on how weird it was to see their sibling's pictures pasted in school lockers and written on their notebooks, but they understood and took it all in stride."

It's no surprise that Barbara went on to write the book "A Full House of Growing Pains," where she describes the trials and tribulations of being a Showbiz Parent.

"My advice to parents who are considering their child for a career in Hollywood," explained Barbara,  "is to take a serious inventory of your motives."

Barbara's interview about raising Kirk and Candace up in showbiz is a truly inspiring one.
