HB 297, Hearing on March 12, 5pm A House Rules Committee hearing is currently scheduled the animal legislation by the Veterinary Board, for Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at 5:00pm, in Juneau, State Capitol, Rm 154. If you wish to have your viewpoint considered, you should have your comments to the House Rules Committee (HRules) before this meeting, or come and testify. If you cannot be present, ask the committee to have it teleconferenced. Call HRules at 907-465-3764 or email Rep. Coghill, at representative_john_coghill@legis.state.ak.us.
Remember, this bill dramatically affects your freedom of speech to talk about animal care, have anyone but the animal owner (no spouse, children, friend, etc.) or veterinarian care for the animal (no boarding?), or even get new veterinarians licensed in the state (are you unhappy with your current veterinary care?)
Contact your legislator, also, to let them know how you feel about the proposed changes, so they can vote accordingly. |
