Andrew Thoms and Scott Brylinsky from the Sitka Conservation Society will be presenting a just completed study on Sitka's Energy Future. Next week, we will be continuing on the same topic with a panel of speakers to explore this important issue further.

Welcome Shauna Unger
Please help us welcome Shauna Unger, the Sitka Chamber's new Administrative Assistant! We are very excited to have Shauna here and encourage you to stop by or give her a call to welcome her!
Shauna grew up in the greater Seattle area and moved to Sitka in 2008 with her husband Wayne and their two children. She has worked for a wide variety of different and interesting companies in an administrative and accounting capacity, including a contracting business that she and her husband owed and operated. Shauna's interests are pastel painting, making jewelry, health and fitness and of course her family! |
Testify Today on Meaningful Reform
Show Your Support for Governor Parnell's #1 Economic Priority - Meaningful Reform to Alaska's Oil Tax Structure to increase oil production: Why: The Senate Finance Committee will hear public testimony on SB 192 TODAY! Your voice is important! As it stands now, SB192 will NOT meaningfully reform oil taxes and encourage investment or increase oil production. When: Today, 9 a.m., and again at 1 p.m. Where: Your Local Legislative Information Office. Click here for statewide locations. As Governor Parnell puts it, "A tiny change or a marginal change is not going to change Alaska's future. And I want to make sure that any change that comes across our way, that gets implemented, significantly improves Alaskans' lot in this life." If you can't testify, send an email to your legislators. You can find out who your representatives are and how to contact them by clicking here. |
