Greetings!
The Sitka Chamber of Commerce Luncheon will be at noon on Wednesday, March 7th. Please join us for a presentation by Bill Allen and Pam Meekin on "YOUR Alaska State Fair".
Bill and Pam are on a speaking tour in hub communities in Alaska with the goal to inform and educate residents of the state, both urban and rural about the Mission of the Alaska State Fair with emphasis on correcting the "misconception" that the Alaska State Fair is a local (Mat-Valley) or regional (south central Alaska) Fair. Further, that all people of Alaska are invited to attend, participate and become involved in the governance of the non-profit corporation. Further, the purpose is to demonstrate that the annual 12 day Fair is to educate and entertain fair-goers with quality exhibits and entertainment. Bottom line.......the Alaska State Fair is your Fair and they invite you to attend, participate and enjoy YOUR Fair.
The Sitka Chamber of Commerce luncheons are held on Wednesdays at Noon at the Westmark Sitka. They are always open to the public. For more information, call the Chamber office at 747-8604.

Sitka Chamber Board of Directors to Meet
The Sitka Chamber of Commerce board of directors will be meeting on Thursday, March 8th at 4pm at 329 Harbor Drive Suite 212. Chamber members are encouraged to attend. |
2012 Greater Sitka Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet & Awards Ceremony Calling all flappers and fellas! The Greater Sitka Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet and Awards Ceremony is this Saturday, March 10th and everyone is invited! This swanky event will take you back in time to the Roaring Twenties, so pull out your glad rags and get dolled up... This is one evening that is sure to hit on all sixes! The Speakeasy will open at 6pm with delicious hors d'oevres and live jazz by Mike and Iko Sullivan. Mike and Iko have lived in Sitka since 1983 and before moving here, played professionally and for fun all over the country, from Atlanta to Fairbanks. Their own group, Jazz on the Rock performs locally throughout the year. For dinner, we invite you to feast on delectable treats from Chef Randy's arsenal, grilled beef medallions, fresh Alaskan rockfish, roasted asparagus and a fingerling potato medley. The prohibition may be over, but there ought to be a ban on food this delicious! Make sure you save room though, because the Sitka Chamber board members have been busy baking for the dessert auction that will take place right after dinner. Also this evening, the winners of the Sitka Chamber's highly anticipated annual awards will be revealed. The Sitka Chamber has been recognizing outstanding businesses in Sitka with the Business of the Year award for over twenty years, and has been honoring extraordinary citizens of Sitka with the Cossack Cap award for over thirty five years! Gerry Hope, President of the Sitka Chamber, will be presenting the these prestigious awards. And just when you think it can't get any better then this, Comedian Eric Hunter will be joining us live from Los Angeles, California! LA Weekly listed Eric in "Some of the Funniest Comedians in America" section of their paper. He performed in the 3rd season of Last Comic Standing on NBC and has been the opening act for Jim Gaffigan and the Beach Boys. His materials are clean and funny... with a little edge. "Eric Hunter had the Detroit Comedy Festival audience (and myself) gasping for breath as he destroyed the room with his extraordinary comedic talent," says David Moroz, Producer of the Detroit International Comedy Festival. Everyone is invited to this ritzy event, Sitka Chamber member or not. Tickets are $50, and can be purchased at Old Harbor Books or at the Sitka Chamber office located at 329 Harbor Drive Suite 212. |

Style Matters
Let's say you have a Microsoft Office document you worked really hard on - charts, graphs, images, the works. Then you share it with someone using Google Docs and things don't look the way they should. Not good, right? Fortunately, there's an easy way to avoid this: use Office Web Apps.* It's the smart way to take Office to the web.
