| Encouraging Arti Gras Merchant Specials
The Greater Sitka Arts Council and the Sitka Arti Gras Music and Arts Celebration are gearing up for the 5th Annual Arti Gras. The city will read a proclamation the 14th of Feb citing the dates as Sitka Arti Gras time.
We would like to encourage local businesses to consider offering some type of Arti Gras "special" during the Feb 24 through March 11 event. Suggestions could include an Arti Gras pizza, Arti Gras special meal, Arti Gras beer, special sale in the store, the Arti Gras employee of the month, an Arti Gras window display, or anything else to celebrate the occasion.
To review the schedule or for more information go to Sitkaarts.org or call Jeff at 747-4821.

| Sitka Chamber Passes Resolution in Support of Road to Katlian Bay Quarry Site
The Greater Sitka Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors have passed a resolution in Support of a road to the Katlian Bay Quarry Site. Shee Atiká, Incorporated owns approximately 3,000 acres of surface estate at Katlian Bay and Sealaska owns the subsurface thereunder. There is a significant shortage of rock, sand and gravel in Sitka as well as elsewhere in Southeast Alaska and in Western Alaska. There are substantial and commercially-valuable quantities of rock, sand and gravel located at Katlian Bay, including within the subsurface owned by Sealaska ("Katlian Bay Rock Resources").
Shee Atiká, Incorporated has an existing permit to maintain a mooring buoy in Katlian Bay, and such mooring buoy can be utilized to moor vessels that could transport the Katlian Bay Rock Resources and otherwise in the operation of a quarry. Sealaska has obtained the necessary governmental permits to operate a quarry ("Katlian Bay Quarry Site") within its subsurface at Katlian Bay to access and remove the Katlian Bay Rock Resources.
The Sitka Chamber believes that long term economic growth in the Sitka area will benefit from an all-weather road from Sitka to the Katlian Bay Quarry Site. The road will permit the transport of the Katlian Bay Rock Resources from the Katlian Bay Quarry Site to markets in Sitka and other points in Southeast Alaska as well as in Western Alaska.
The State of Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities ("DOTPF") has a program known as "Road to Resources" that provides funding for roads that access natural resources such as the Katlian Bay Rock Resources.

From The Director
Happy Monday! I am back from a week in Juneau for the Alaska State Chamber's Legislative Fly-In. We heard from some dynamic speakers and had some great visits with legislatures up on the hill.
I look forward to seeing everyone at lunch this Wednesday. As always, have a great week and thank you for reading!
