2012 Legislative Fly-In

The annual Alaska Chamber Fly-In is designed to give members the chance to influence public policy effectively by meeting directly with state legislators and the administration. The Fly-In is your chance to seek support for the priority positions established at the Legislative Policy Forum and get to know your elected officials personally. Every member who attends the Fly-In can make a difference for Alaska's business community. Read more...

Legislative Coverage on Gavel to Gavel

Gavel to Gavel Alaska, the statewide television and Internet webcasting service, starts a new season of Legislative broadcasts when the Legislature convenes.  Gavel to Gavel Alaska will premiere on the first day of the new legislative session, Tuesday, January 17th.  Live coverage will include opening day House and Senate floor sessions.

Throughout the session, cameras in the state capitol will televise unedited, start-to-finish coverage of House and Senate floor sessions, key committee hearings, news conferences and other state government activities.

Gavel Alaska will be aired on the statewide TV channel 360 North.  The channel offers a full-time schedule of Alaska programming, including public affairs specials, documentaries, historical programs, Alaska Native interest shows and more.

The television service will broadcast over the air in Anchorage on KAKM-TV, channel 7.3, Fairbanks on KUAC-TV channel 9.2 and Juneau on KTOO-TV, channel 3.2.  It will also be carried by 37 cable systems statewide, including all of the GCI Cable systems, as well as on satellite's Dish Network and DIRECTV.  The service is also available online at www.gavelalaska.org

Gavel to Gavel Alaska will also stream live audio and video of most official meetings in the state capitol building so that anyone with Internet access will be able to listen to or watch hearings, committee meetings and floor sessions live as they happen.   In addition, meetings will be saved in an extensive on-line audio and video archive and will be available for playback online, on demand.

Gavel to Gavel Alaska is produced by KTOO-TV, the public television station in Juneau. The City and Borough of Juneau provides a major grant to support the coverage.  ACS provides the Internet webcasting service.  GCI Cable and several other cable companies are providing channels on cable systems throughout the state and both Dish Network and DIRECTV provide distribution to their home satellite customers in Alaska.

Other sponsors include AARP Alaska, the Association of Alaska School Boards, the Alaska Committee, Anglo American, ACS, the Alaska Conference of Mayors, the Alaska Cruise Association, the Alaska Power Association, the Alaska Mental Health Trust, the Alaska State Chamber of Commerce, Alaska USA, the Alaska State Employees Association, AT&T, BP, Bartlett Regional Hospital, Bristol Bay Native Corporation, ConocoPhillips, GCI, IBEW Local 1547, the Juneau Chamber of Commerce, NEA-Alaska and the Pebble Partnership.
