SEAFOOD FESTIVAL HELP NEEDED
Sitka Seafood Festival logo
Sitka is hosting the first Sitka Seafood Festival August 6th & 7th. The planning committee has invited Chef Robert Kinneen from Orso restaurant in Anchorage to be the guest chef at the beginning banquet Friday night. He is currently filming a "Web-A-Thon" and has a professional camera crew that he would like to bring here to cover some of the festival.

According to organizer, Alicia Peavey, "We are in need of Alaska Airlines miles to help bring the chef, his family and the filming crew to Sitka for the festival. If we are able to bring the filming crew, there is a possibility they would be able to shoot a tourism commercial/show on Sitka. There are a lot of possibilities with this, and the Chef is an amazing person to bring to our town that could potentially bring in quite a bit of tourism. If you are interested in this, we need help in sponsoring the filming crew through housing, payment, and airline miles. If you can help us out, email us at sitkaseafoodfestival@gmail.com."
Alicia can be reached at 928-607-4845 or Sitka Seafood Festival.
CHAMBER SUPPORT FOR BUSINESS WEEK ATTENDEES
Alaska Business Week

There's still time to register your high school student for the first Alaska Business Week, sponsored by the Alaska State Chamber of Commerce. Applications and more information are available at the Alaska State Chamber.

The Sitka Chamber of Commerce is coordinating resources from local businesses and individuals to help cover travel costs. Give our office a call at 747-8604 after acceptance into the camp.

The camp will be held August 8-14, on the UAF campus, and is open to 100 9-12 grade students from all over Alaska. Over the course of the week, they will have hands-on experience in running a company - mentored by an outstanding group of business people from major companies.

The $325 tuition covers housing, food and program materials. The student will need to cover the cost of the trip Fairbanks.
