BUSINESS AFTER HOURS
Cheryl Pearson & JoAnne HuffFriday's After Hours in the Harbor Heights Penthouse, was great.
We enjoyed meeting our hosts, Dick & Sandra Troutte, the owners of the Troutte Center.
The fully furnished four bedroom penthouse is now available as a vacation rental. It would be fabulous as a site for weddings, retreats or other events, as well as for visitors from out of Sitka. The penthouse can easily sleep 10.

The property is managed by Davis Realty.
For more information, visit the Harbor Heights Penthouse website.
More photos from the event, will be on the Chamber's site soon.
STAND UP & BE COUNTED!

2010 Census logoCensus surveys are beginning to arrive at our homes. As part of the Complete Count Committee, I can't emphasize enough how important it is to get everyone in Sitka counted.

Sitka did well in 2000, but we want to have an even better count this year. Please talk with everyone you know, especially any young people who may not be living with family.

Its EASY, IMPORTANT, and SAFE, and everyone's participation is vital. We move forward when you send it back. To learn more, visit the 2010 Census.

BBB REPORT ON CREDIT CARD ACCOUNTABILITY
DuPont, Wash. - Feb. 24, 2010 - Nine months after it was enacted, the Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure Act of 2009 went into effect on Feb. 22, 2010, granting credit card holders new consumer protection rights. Meanwhile, a survey by CreditCards.com indicates that almost 75 percent of cardholders admit to not reading the terms and conditions of their credit cards.

"Credit card debt, fees and penalties can put American families in financial trouble," said Robert W.G. Andrew, CEO of Better Business Bureau serving Alaska, Oregon and Western Washington. "Consumers need to take the time to understand the fine print of their credit card agreements and learn about the consumer protection initiatives within the new CARD Act."

BBB recommends that all consumers review the new provisions set forth by the Credit CARD Act of 2009.Included are:

More Notice for New Interest Rate Changes.

Cardholder Opt-Out.

Older Age Restrictions Added.

New Rules for Monthly Statements.

Overpayments Go Toward Highest Interest Balances.

Over the Limit Opt-In.

Increased Disclosure on Minimum Payments.

Say Goodbye to Double-Billing Cycles.
