February 10, 2010 - Jeremy Mathis, UAF School of Fisheries & Ocean Sciences Assistant Professor, will discuss the effects of ocean acidification on our fisheries. According to Mathis, "The increasing acidification of Alaska waters could have a destructive
effect on all of our commercial fisheries. This is a problem that we
have to think about in terms of the next decade instead of the next
century." UAS, Sitka will be donating a door prize.

LINCOLN DAY DINNER
 The 2010 Lincoln Day Dinner will be on Wednesday, February 17, at the Channel Club, beginning at 6pm. The annual event is hosted by the Sitka Republican Women.
Governor Sean Parnell will be the guest speaker.  The dinner, of prime rib or halibut, will follow a cocktail hour and silent auction. Tickets, at $40, are on sale now. Reservations may be made by calling Lureen Stedman at 747-8905. |

Trust for Historic Preservation.® This designation should help attract visitors from all over the world who are interested in visiting historically and culturally distinctive locations.
