Today is a special day for many in the United States and many folks give thanks and count their blessings. As I write to you from Nicaragua I want to give thanks you for your part in making our program at Empowerment International possible. Thanks to you this week we are finishing the school year and there are many families proud and grateful that their children have been able to complete it with your assistance in such difficult circumstances. The most exciting part for us to date is we will be attending the High School graduations of 2 young ladies next week. They have a desire to attend the university. Thanks to their sponsors this will be a dream turned into a reality. In return, the young college students will intern with us to give back to EI and their community while building thier own experience in the professional world. They are excited and so are we!
Please check out this little video to see how one of our family's prepares for their school day.
As most people get ready for upcoming the holiday season, we at EI are as busy as bees , working to evaluate each child and family currently in our program. As of last week we now we have a wonderful yet difficult situation to resolve! As we opened up a few slots for our program we got an incredible response. Not only do we have a small remote village requesting assistance (number of children is 50) we also have 138 more applicants near our current barrio! There is a great demand for our program and due to our pre-screening process these 188 applicants have demonstrated strong interest in helping themselves and their children to create better lives.
I hope on this day of thanks and giving, and in the future days to come, you remember these 188 children in need as well as our current 200 children in the program, and consider how you can continue and even augment your participation in their future. Please check out Sam Jacoby's story about this latest news!
If you have family and friends that have 'everything' please consider giving them a gift that lasts for the entire year (and in reality beyond), by sponsoring a child in their name. We have nice gift certificates that can be mailed to you or to them directly. You can partner with us to make a difference by educating a child and giving hope to the world.
Thank you for your past and continued support!
Sincerely,
Kathy Adams
