Boulder's love affair with tea started in the late 1960's when the founders of Celestial Seasonings collected herbs, stuffed them into hand-sewn muslin bags and sold them to a local store. Forty years later, it has grown into the largest specialty tea manufacturer in North America. They offer free tours every day. Boulder is also home to the only authentic Tajik teahouse in the Northern Hemisphere. The spectacular Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse is open every day. Stop in for tea, breakfast, lunch, dinner, or simply walk in a have a look around. They host the Rocky Mountain Tea Festival every July. Here is a list of other tea houses (and coffee shops) in town. Also, if you like to enjoy loose tea away from home, a Boulder company has what you need. The Tuffy Tea Steeper is on the Dr. Oz Hot List and it's made by Boulder's own the Tea Spot.

Top 10 Winter TownsBoulder makes the list
National Geographic Traveler names Boulder as one of the Top 10 Winter Towns in its January/February issue. The magazine picked the towns with the help of its social media fans and one of them wrote, "Ski the nearby mountains in the morning; bike ride in Boulder in the afternoon!" We couldn't agree more. Skiing at Eldora Mountain Resort is just 30 minutes away from downtown Boulder and the Boulder Ski Escape Package is Colorado's most affordable ski vacation. Packages start at $67.50 per person which include lodging PLUS a lift ticket and run through April 10.

Astronauts in Boulder
Shoot for the moon
As NASA's 30 year shuttle program winds down with the last of the shuttle flights, Boulder will keep an eye on the sky and shoot for the moon. The University of Colorado at Boulder has a long history of astronauts (CU alumni have flown 39 missions) and will continue to play a role in NASA's future. In 1962, Scott Carpenter flew in with Project Mercury. He was born and raised in Boulder and his boyhood home is located at the corner of 7th Street and Aurora and why he named his spacecraft the Aurora 7. There is a park named after him where kids can play in an aeronautical-themed playground - it's located at 30th and Arapahoe. In 2009, Steve Swanson, a CU Boulder alum, flew on Discovery and walked in space. Just recently, a CU professor, Waleed Abdalati, was named the chief scientist of NASA. This is fun - there is a 35 foot tall rocket, which flew in space, at the entrance to the movie theater at the Twenty Ninth Street shopping mall.
