Boulder Trivia
Do you know?
Locals in Boulder are obsessed with having fun outside. Whether on a bicycle, hiking, or climbing a mountain, locals spend a lot of time outside on the city's 44,000 acres of preserved land. Here are some fun facts that illustrate the point...
-Bicycling is so highly regarded in Boulder that sometimes the city plows the Boulder Creek bike path before they plow the streets!
-Boulder's third Flatiron is 1,400 ft high, a few hundred feet higher than the Empire State Building. It has been climbed by people without using their hands, on roller skates, naked and in 8 minutes (by separate climbers).
-A Colorado Daily poll found that 7 out of 10 Boulderites own bicycles. Another guidebook states that Boulder's bicycle count is approximately 93,000 - almost equal to the total population!

Three Boulder restaurants named the best
Visiting restaurants while on vacation is a great way to experience what it's like to "live like a local."
When you visit Boulder there is an added bonus, because Boulder is one of the country's top dining destinations.
Our restaurants and chefs were highlighted last year in Bon Appetit, Wine Spectator, Gourmet, Food and Wine, the New York Times and USA Today.
The restaurant pictured above is the Flagstaff House. It was picked by Bon Appetit as one of the best outdoor dining spots in the country.
Just recently, in the December issue of the Denver magazine, 5280, the 10 best new restaurants were named. Three of them are in Boulder.
Boulder feels like a small town, but its sophisticated lifestyle demands a rich dining scene. Many of our restaurants embrace the idea of local, seasonal, artisanal cooking. Whether you're looking for simple spaghetti, vegetarian, a great burger or a special dinner, you'll find it in Boulder.

A parade, shopping, eating & hiking
Just because the days are shorter and colder, doesn't mean that activities in Boulder slow down.
Nah. We just put on more layers.
Here's a list of a few upcoming events:
St. Patricks Day Parade - It's the 30th anniversary! Conor O'Neill's presents the "World's Shortest Saint Patrick's Day Parade", high noon in historic downtown Boulder on 13th Street between Walnut and Spruce. After the parade, enjoy live entertainment inside the pub. Don't forget to wear green.
March 16th, 2008
Free Guided Hikes - Surprisingly, snow isn't always on the ground in Boulder in the winter. And even if there is, we still go hiking! Join a ranger and discover our favorite winter trails. Year-round.
Shopping - Well, it's not a special event, but the shopping in Boulder is special. There are three main areas - The Pearl Street Mall is a pedestrian area in historic downtown Boulder full of ecclectic shops, cafes and galleries. The Twenty Ninth Street retail district has the best national retailers (some you haven't seen before) and The Hill is the place to shop alongside college students.
Year-round.
The Boulder Farmers' Market - Recently named one of the best farmers' markets in the country. It's an outdoor market where the farmers are local and they grow what they sell. Plus there is a spot where you can sit down and eat a prepared meal by local chef.
